Life without kids

    Hi ladies,

This could have gone in PI but I want more broader insights and experiences.

Basically myself and the other half have been trying to conceive for the past few years. We've just about reached the end of the road. We may not be there quite yet, but it's pretty near. Right now we don't see adoption or donor eggs/sperm as options for us. Maybe we're still too heartbroken, or maybe just not really feeling it and maybe never will.

Obviously we're in pieces. But we have to move on. We may or may not be moving on together, for lots of reasons, but the infertility is certainly a very big one. We've given ourselves a few months to absorb the shock and see how we feel.

So, here's a question for the childless (or childfree?), whether because of infertility or because you never met anyone or never wanted kids.
What are the consolations of childlessless? Have you found happiness or contentment? Did you re-structure you lives radically? Did it take you long to accept? Why did you never choose kids?

Also, I'm still only turning thirty six and may be single soon. It's not that young, but it's still in that ...eh... 'awkward age' where lots of people are still just settling down and starting families. Would it be harder for me to meet someone as a youngish infertile woman? So many questions.

    Thanks.
