Bra sizes!

I am so frustrated and cannot seem to figure out my correct size as it appears to change in every shop! So I think I'm a 36B but right now what used to be my most comfiest bra is now gaping at the cups! What does that mean?

Every time I try and try on but some shops don't have that option. I bought another few pairs recently in a 36B and the front part wouldn't lie flat against my chest and every time I lifted up my arms the bra moved up too!

Another bra I bought was huge and I cannot fill the cups, even though it's also a 36B.

    It's SO frustrating!

Sounds like your band is too large if the bra is moving when you raise your arms - try going down to a 34 or even a 32 band.

Getting the right bra size is a pain in the arse and takes a lot of trial and error.

I'd never buy a bra without trying it on first. I know bra sizes are supposed to be fairly standardised but I have lots in different sizes. You could try somewhere with a bra fitting service like Debenhams or M&S, I've found them fairly good in the past.

Buying a bra is as frustrating as finding a pair of jeans that fit. Sizing is *supposed* to be standardised, but it's anything but.

Never buy a bra you don't try on, and better yet, go to a place where they do fittings & can run back & forth to the shelves for you.

Eugh, I'm a 28 inch band and they don't stock lower that 30 inches in Ann Summers, Penneys or La Senza. So that leaves Debenhams which costs a fortune or shop online and then I can't try them on! Really annoying!

I think every women knows how annoying it is.
I went bra shopping today. I could barely close the back on the first bra I tried on  The second fit perfectly. Same shop and everything.

Echo everything said here. It's irritating. I tend to find that particular shops work well for me, while in others finding a bra that fits properly is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Upstairs in Roches on Henry street is good I think. @ cherub rock, I don't know if you've been there but Peaches and Cream in Dublin is particularly good for women with small sizes across the back (a friend of mine, a 28 DD always goes there).

I'll have to bear that in mind. as a 32D (not 30D as I previously wrote... oops!) I find it pretty hard to buy bras that fit (unless I go to M&S or Debenhams which as others have said is pretty expensive. Dunnes and pennys never have those sizes and La Senza doesn't seem to fit right...) Thanks!

Have to say I love the bras from Avon.... They fit nice and snug and wash well, I find anyway. Actually, I followed the measuring guide in one of their catalogues and I had been wearing the wrong size for ages! The sizes in their bras seem to consistent regardless of style/shape. Penneys, Dunnes one are hit & miss and don't last any length :)

Excellent bras are quite expensive, but sweet Jesus - they can make you look like you've had a boob lift. It's amazing.

i've heard bramora mentioned a few times, i must try them... near SSG, yeah?
usually go to M&S and la senza i have to say, but you will always have to try on different bras in different sizes...
i mean you yourself will fluctuate in different sizes at different times, on top of everything else!

I fit for bra's in Debenhams.. and the reason you're different in every shop is because every bra is different. It's like, when shopping for clothes - depending where you buy them.. they can be big fitting or small fitting.. well unfortunately, the same goes for bra's.

And, 36B is a hard size to fit as most bra designers don't make bra's for realistic sizes such as a 36B, they make the cup to match the back size. So.. as you getting bigger on the back, the cup increases in size too.

If I were you, i'd take a look at balconette style bra's.
They are a nice cut especially if you have smaller cups.
Look out for brands like - triumph or ultimate.

I love the sound of balconette bras, i think I had one of them before and iirc they were a lovely fit. I'm definitely a 36/38B in La Senza as I got measured there but their bras lose their shape/fit after a few months wear which is frustrating.

Also I have the problem of fluctuating bra size - literally if I lose a pound it's off my boobs! So they are constantly changing and making it very frustrating for wearing bras!
