In search of a serious programme...

Each journey, single step etc. This is it...

45+ male, 22 stone, 5'11'' never been fit, in search of serious, structured (perhaps one-on-one?) fitness programme. Lots of diets and dieting programmes over the years (incl. supervised like WW and even Doctor-led) - some worked, for a bit, most didn't. Did gym thing a couple of times and rather enjoyed it but always trailed away eventually. Otherwise in good health (I know!) but do have sleep apnea (treated with CPAP). Wants to see kids grow up and would like to see toes.

    Suggestions?!?

At that weight, all you really need to do is start moving more and eating less.
Get 5 or 6 30 min walks in per week and sort your diet out.

To maintain 22 stone, you have to be eating around 6000 calories per day, way more than you should be.

Cut out all white carbs, Junk food, eat more vegetables and lean meat and chicken. Snack on nuts.
When down to 18 stone or so, then start looking for a "proper" programme.

Thanks for the sensible advice and I agree with it (leaving aside the oats and squats option!). Frankly, the contents of the programme I know - it's not rocket science afterall, it's energy input versus energy output. What I really is need the supervision side of a 'programme' plus an exercise regime that isn't just about weight loss (I could move to the Moon after all) but is about aerobic fitness and muscle-building. Maybe, as you suggest, it's too early for that but that advice and support might make the difference before yet another bounce on the yoyo. Thanks again all!

That's complicated though. You're looking for some super combination of fat loss, aerobic fitness, muscle building... and if you find someone offering you this trinity, they'll just be selling you magic beans.

    I'll just leave this here.

I'll point out that you could lose weight by eating less. Have you tried that?
