    2011-09-09-08-18-25-1-bolton-wanderers-vs-manchester-united-2011-highli.jpg

    Team news;

Bolton's new signings David Ngog, Gael Kakuta and Dedryck Boyata are all in contention to make their debuts although none are likely to start.Stuart Holden played for the reserves in midweek but is not yet ready for a first-team return.

Manchester United's Javier Hernandez is set for his first start of the season in place of the injured Danny Welbeck. Captain Nemanja Vidic remains out with a calf strain, Antonio Valencia is not fit to return and Rafael is a long-term absentee.

    Possible lineups;

    Jaaskelainen

    Steinsson
    Cahill
    Knight
    Robinson

    Eagles
    Muamba
    Reo-Coker
    Petrov

    Klasnic
    Davies

    Hernandez

    Rooney

    Young
    Anderson
    Cleverley
    Nani

    Evra
    Jones
    Ferdinand
    Smalling

    de Gea

Expecting an unchanged team from the Arsenal game but hopefully Ferdinand comes back in place of Evans.

Would also like to see Fabio start ahead of Evra but I don't see it happening. Actually, maybe by virtue of the fact Evra played for France midweek he may have a chance.

I think it's more likely we see Fabio in the CL midweek though.

With regards Smalling, I think his form has been to good at RB to drop him.

The big question will be who starts at centre half. As said in the OP, I hope it's Jones and Rio.

I'm going for a surprisingly easy win here, with United a tasty 7/2 to score 4 or more goals.

Bolton have conceded 6 in their last 2 Premier League games (City and Liverpool), and I can't see Gary Cahill stopping the flow when they come up against us. We are playing with enough pace to cause them real problems, and I can see Nani scoring.

Think you have the line-up spot on, (except for Jones, I expect Evans to play) though I do wonder when Berbatov will get a game, and he is surely in line to get a start here...right? Might be the sort of player needed to unlock them early.

Didnt Fergie say earlier that Rio is fit but he wont change the defence because they have done so well?

I`m sure I read it somewhere this morning. In work at the moment so cant go searching for a source.

    Edit....from manutd.com

"Rio Ferdinand's available but none of the back four deserve to be dropped so I don't anticipate many changes in the team."

Did Fergie give a press conference today?

Ya, alot of the content of it is being saved for the written press as usual though.

I think Adox is right, he apparently indicated it will be an unchanged side. You never know with him though.

He said Valencia will be included in the squad and also called for de Gea to be given better protection from the referee than he was in the West Brom game.

Late kick-off? Nice. I can go see Woking play in the Blue Square Premier division now. :D

As to the game, it will be a tough one. Bolton are still a physical team but can play decent football now as well. We should be beating them really but I'd say a close game. 2-1.

And play with the big orange ball, as well as the Man U goal to be made smaller :D

word is both De Gea and Cleverley will be rested due to the physical nature of Boltons game..

Would be a strange move to drop de Gea considering he has called for him to be given proper protection tomorrow.

That news wouldn't have surprised me if he had not said anything about it in his presser.

And besides, I don't think Bolton are as physical a team they once were. They are a much silkier, footballing side these days although admittedly they have retained somewhat of a physical edge.

Cleverley must be starting. He's after saying on his facebook page that "no disrespect to Bolton but I think today is the time that I score and get my first league goal for the Reds".

Strong argument for dropping de Gea for this match (and the Stoke game).

He could be humiliated against both sides.

Tricky with Nani, Young and Valencia...who do you leave out? At this stage, it has to be Nani in my view.

Valencia isn't match fit at the moment so I don't think he's in contention to start yet.

I'd agree Nani's place will be the one that's under threat. He's been the most inconsistent out of United's front 4 this season. Valencia wouldn't waste half of the opportunities Nani out wide that does.

    Meh can't stand Valencia's onefootedness

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 858 ✭✭✭Sean Bateman

Yeah, this game's probably too soon for Valencia but in the medium term you'd have to fancy him to displace Nani.

His crosses for Rooney's glut of headers two seasons ago were incredible.

Fletcher has to be in the mix now after doing well for Scotland.

Very surprising to hear you so negative about DDG, Bateman !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,785 ✭✭✭James Forde

No chance of Valencia starting today!

Ill be extremely disappointed if DDG doesnt start today, if he is going to be our no1 he will have to play these type of teams and by dropping him you giving the lad no confidence

Seen this on twitter, so of course I wouldn't trust it, but its interesting nonetheless

Lindegaard, Evra, Evans, Jones, Smalling, Young, Anderson, Giggs, Nani, Rooney, Hernandez

I highly doubt that's the line up tbh.

    Why is it interesting?

Just with DDG dropped, and Giggsy coming in.

Thought he would have gone with the same side as against Arsenal just with Hernandez in and maybe Rio in. Isn't he meant to be fit? Thought I seen somewhere he was.

Heres another one, certainly looks more likely - De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra, Nani, Anderson, Cleverley, Young, Rooney & Hernandez. #MUFC

Lovely, really looking forward to seeing how the young defenders cope with the physicality of Boltons set pieces and attack, also would like to see Evra have a solid game.

    Chico to score;)

No surprises, same team that started against Arsenal allowing for the Welbeck/Hernandez change.

Fergie dropping De Gea? lol, rags.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

Actually, TeamTalk also have Ferdinand instead of Smalling.

    Surprised Smalling isnt at RB.

K.Davies is gonna wreck DaGea's head today!

You can see his thinking as Smalling played 2 games for England while Jones and Ferdinand had a rest.

I think Evans was suspended for a Northern Ireland game aswell.

Will be interesting to see how jones does at RB.

He'll be fine IMO. Very composed on the ball, good positionally, and likes to maurade forward with the ball. Will be as solid as Smalling IMO.

    So Smalling,jones,evans,da silvas,evra......

Who said we were stuck for full backs?!

Who said we were stuck for full backs?!

We've just got flexible young CBs.

I think people were more worried about the FB situation in case we suffered a spate of injuries in defence, which has happened in the past.

Disappointed Fabio isn't starting at RB. I can understand Jones is there for height, but still I'd have thought Rio and Evans have enough to handle Davies. Otherwise delighted, especially with the CM staying the same

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,883 ✭✭✭smokedeels

On form, Evra doesn't deserve to start in that team, I predict more defensive naivety from him today.

Come on DDG, silence the Batemans!
