Lately after the gym I have been in the habit of getting a chicken fillet wrap and another chicken fillet on its own for lunch

Anyone know the nutrition of Spar's chicken fillet wraps

    Junk or half decent

Normally I'd have wrap, mayo, chicken fillet tomato , lettuce

Don't know much about nutrition but know that if you're talking about those breaded chicken fillets then they are absolute crap, tasty though!

**** knows what they pump into the chicken, but I'm sure like many others it is the cheap, warming lunch of choice for many an individual on a budget. Hell, there's only so bad lettuce and tomato can be, right? Right?

Really not a good idea to be eating that kind of food. The lettuce and the tomato are about the only good thing usually thrown into them. The wrap is not good (absolutely no nutritional value), the chicken is worse and the sauce that is usually splattered on to them is crap for you. Don't be under the illusion that you spent time in the gym so you can balance out the effects of food like that. You're not doing yourself any favours.

Seems like wasting carbs on tasteless poor quality bread that could be used on delicious pastries or icecream. If you're gonna eat rubbish make it the tastiest rubbish possible!

If you're mass-gaining- ACE! Otherwise- not so much!

No The breaded chicken fillets aren't great.. And any sauce they put on it is bound to be fairly heavy with calories!

And correct if wrong but in some cases a Wrap can be worse than a roll.. I believe i read it somewhere before.. (suppose will depend on the wrap/roll)

I steer clear of them since it's not Irish chicken (it's nearly all from Thailand).

There's a huge difference in taste between a regular irish breast of chicken, and one from the SPAR etc. Don't get me wrong, the latter usually tastes much better - so I imagine that there are fats/MSG/salt added to make them taste better.

I'm all for eating local produce but how do you know that Irish chicken breast is any better for you? There's a lot that goes into commercial chicken produced everywhere that would make you think twice about eating it.
If you can afford it the choice should really be organic

My issue is with the conditions that the chicken has been reared, killed and procssed in Thailand. It's a fair journey between Thailand and Ireland, so I imagine it is treated accordingly to make sure it lasts that duration.

I know lads who've worked on the laboratory side of meat processing facilities in Austria who export to Ireland. They say that anything for export would never be put on sale domestically, and that that is an international industry "thing". It's acceptable to send out utter ****e once it's not for your own consumption.

And I wouldn't bother with organic. That's a con job if I've ever heard one!

Its sh*te, pure 100% sh*te.. we all know it is, but we pretend its not because its 'fresh' (fresh sh*te) and its better than the fatty-fatty-fat-head option in front of you in the line buying crisps, a twix and a can of (diet) coke.

For the record I got a two chicken fillets in my wrap today and washed it down with a litre of chocolate milk.

Now I want a twix

Imported junk pumped full of godknowswhat

    Move on OP

You can even buy a whole chicken and make your own wraps.
A fortune can be saved by bringing your own lunch to work every day

The only sandwich that's worth knowing is the Mile High Club from Pig and Heifer.

Subway - sweet onion chicken teryaki(SP) - foot long double meat - double cheese.

So anal am I that I have considered trying to ascertain the weight of chicken in each of their little trays - I have not yet brought my pocket scale with me...:D

I figure perhaps 50grams or more per tray and with the cheese.

The whole thing could be approaching 100grams of protein.

As for the spar wrap - no idea mate - but wraps are surprisingly kcal heavy and taste not so great on their own!

Are you making progress in terms of weight/being lean etc?

    If so don't sweat it.

I'm sure you've read that but its not true.
A wrap is 100-200 calories deopending in the size, or rather the weight.
A roll is going to be more than this. 2 slices of bread is about the same as a wrap

The calories in the wrap/bread become less important when you are adding lots of breaded deep fried chicken and mayo based sauces.

I didn't realise a wrap was the same as two slices...

Roughly, wraps vary in size, as do slices of bread. But in general the ones from a deli would be bigger. Check the data on packets the next time you are in a shop.
