weight gain and the pill

hi all,bit of of back story, female 5'4, i have been on the pill called Marviol for the last 7 years and have noticed in the last 2 months my weight has gone from around 9st 7 lbs up to today 10 st 10lbs now my diet has been pretty much the same a bit of rubbish here and there and as i work in a gym i do get exercise in usually 1 gym session and 2 spininng classes so i cant figure out where im going wrong. i hadnt really checked my weight in a while bout did notice a bit of a belly comin and my jeans felt alot tighter do ye think the pill could be a reason for the weight gain? thanks

Most pills these days will not cause you to put on weight - at least not according to the manufacturer - but anecdotally it seems to be a very common side effect.

Although given the length of time you've been on the pill it could easily be something else too - even small calorie increases can result in weight fail over time, especially as we get older.

You've been on the pill 7 years, you've only put weight on over the last 2 months. it's not the pill.

Could be anything, the pill isn't 100% effective - worth checking to be sure
