Finder in OS Lion

Is there any way to tweek finder in lion to be more like SL?
I love how easy it is in SL but it feels like a mess at the moment.
The bar at the bottom used to show disk space but now there is nothing.

Ive heard of people being able to change many of the settings and defaults changed when upgrading to lion such as the 3 finger swipe in chrome which is something im missing very much!

Its just off by default. View > Show Status Bar.

you can also get the colourful sidebar back in Finder if you want.
i find the look of the Lion Finder very drab.

For the first time in ages I get the feeling that I don't know how to use the Finder properly. Windows never seem to remember the size or shape I left them in, and I have no idea how the view options work either. Sometimes they seem to change views and shapes just when I go back or forward between folders. I think they changed more than just appearance when they went from Snow Leopard to Lion.
