Cutting an object from a picture

    Hi I'm not very up on these things but here it goes.
    I'm currently working on a self build website and I'd like to 'cut' an object from a photo I have stored on my PC ( a car ) and move this onto my site.
    I have a basic laptop with Windows Vista installed ( I don't have MS Office ) and was wondering is there any existing way/software that would enable me to carry out this move on Vista. I can of course transfer photos and crop them and so on but I cannot cut or click on an object allowing me to take that without the background if that makes sense.
    Will I have to buy software ?

    Try something like GIMP or Picassa. You can also download a full working copy of Adobe Photoshop on 30 day free trial.

    There's a basic free-form select tool in "Paint" if you are desperate!

    Thanks, I'll try the Adobe route. I don't think Picassa allows it.

    I just tried 'freeform' on Paint........OMG...BRRRUTAL!! but thanks for the advice, I learned something new there.

    I use IrfanView to cut portions from images and other image manipulation. Its free and easy to use. I've also used Gimp under linux its also good but more complex.
