Who gives a toss, two awful channels that I'll probably never watch. Way to go UPC, get some decent channels in please if you're replacing ITV2 and 3, not these crap one's.

It is a pity they are not as keen to keep their TV only customers as happy as your stomach appears to want to be.;)
i suppose their software staff are run off their feet :)

Two months notice and they still can't deliver 2 channels on time..wonder what the big media event is about?

Great EPG number for The Food Network. I am happy it wasn't "dumped" into the 100's.

There really is no excuse for the delay - from any PR prospective its better to have the channels on today.

Of course the cynic might say that by delaying viewers wont realise that these 2 channels are junk - both free to air on sat - need I say more....

Apparently a price freeze similar to sky night be announced tomorrow - of course considering that viewers are down channels including the costly ITV's - a price decrease would be more appropriate.

Wonder will the CE go on Today FM again - hopefully Matt will be better prepared this time.

I agree 100% Infoanon today is a good day for people to call 1908 and ask customer service to put you straight onto customer retention if you are a TV only customer.
It worked out very nicely for us,just remember to take customer retention persons name and date and time of phone call ,if a customer is fully paid up and out of contract period there is a choice of deals.

Seriously, the food network and true movies is the crap UPC are replacing the lost stations with.
UPC is an absolute joke, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'd gladly pay the bit more to have sky.
People say UPC is better value for money, how though?
You pay more for sky because the over all quality is better, more channels and a greater selection of hd.
    God I hate UPC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,359 ✭✭✭dunworth1

its a bit bad they didnt just put them on today it wouldnt have made much difference and they could still say tomorrow that they launched on the network.

upc is better value when you also take up broadband and phone with them

on another note why does every thread about upc on here always ends up turning into a "i hate upc thread" this thread is about two new channels and now people are comparing upc with sky.

Can someone explain why UPC dont allow you to watch CNN and other news channels that are free to air its silly, they only give them to you on dearer packages.

CNN is one of the most protected on the dodgy internet sites,it is easier to get Sky sports 1-4 for free on the net than CNN.
MSNBC is even more difficult to find than CNN.
Fox News is everywhere but then again Fox seem to have an agenda so long as they spread their ultra right wing message as far and wide as possible they turn a blind eye to sites that relay them.

because upc is shyt, the new channels they are providing are shyt, why wouldnt we say that?
upc is so shyt that you can avail of phone and broadband on one side of the road where i live and on the other side you cant, how is that value for money?

Why not cancel UPC, if you can't put up a dish (and there are alternatives http://www.sqish.co.uk/) and they annoy you as much as they appear to then you'd be as well to do without. :)

do me a favor, dont speak to me like you know me.
you dont know why i havnt got sky and you dont know what would make me keep a product i think is inferior to its main competitor.;)

Perhaps its because UPC in the last year have lost 7 channels (9 if you include Buzz&Smile), increased their prices - breaching their own terms and conditions in the process, have promised similar content replacement channels for the ITV's for the last 5 months and instead provide 2 FTA channels and expect the paying customer to be happy.

And then UPC cannot even provide the channels when scheduled and ignore all comments on their customer service twitter feeds querying these two channels.

For the record I dont have the option to change to Sky at the moment.

Do yourself a favour and please don't be such a di*k when someone makes a suggestion, I never suggested I knew your circumstances.

Who knows why you have an 'inferior product', maybe you've been the victim of a tiger kidnapping and UPC made you do it either way I couldn't really give a cr*p

That is the worst comment on boards ever. How is it not value for money ? The lads who can get it pay. The lads who can't don't pay.

Also please bear in mind the huge amounts of money Upc invest in this country ad againest sky, who don't invest anything.

The UKTV channel 'goodfood' though is considered better - i would take a guess though that its carriage fees are higher.

Both of the new channels programmes are listed on the UPC website TV guide

because its only slightly cheaper than sky, but on the other hand it hasnt got the added incentives that sky has, there fore its not value for money.

i aint seeing any of the upc money are you, you care to enlighten us as to where this money is going that upc are investing in the country?

The money is going into rolling out a fibre network, so its digging up the road, laying cables etc. Sky send up a satellite and. Then don't invest any money in the countries they supply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 690 ✭✭✭CO19

Great, 2 new channels that most won't watch !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 324 ✭✭elaney

Are you entitled to these new channels on the basic tv package?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 882 ✭✭✭fulhamfanincork

True Movies is hilarious, why would Upc even bother adding it? Waste of everyones time really.

digging holes and laying cables amounts to investing money in the country, its something we should be thankful to upc for, are you serious?

    What a non-event!

That movie channel is stuffed full of made-for-TV tear jerkers populated by B movie actors and people you'll recognise from their endless guest appearances in TV series but whom you'd be hard pressed to name.

Can't see myself looking beyond TCM, MGM and Film4 for a movie any night there's nothing else on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 428 ✭✭Vunderground

RTE 2 HD would have been a good addition...can't believe they had a press conference for this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 324 ✭✭elaney

I have checked and i do not have these channels. I have the basic pack.
Does anyone know any reason for this?

    Thanks

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,687 ✭✭✭✭jack presley

If you follow them on Twitter, you'd swear the best channel in the world ever was being launched today. Talk about hyping up something which is going to be average at best. It's down in the 500's for starters. Is anyone flicking channels still going at that stage?

You could try unplugging your set top box & plugging it back in to see if they appear. Did you try to manually key channel number 328 & 508 on your remote?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 324 ✭✭elaney

Tried unplugging it and no luck Jeckle. Im Not sure how to manually program in the channels so i will have to ring them tomo.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 652 ✭✭✭jeckle

I just meant to press 328 or 508 on your remote.

    UPC are such a mess.

Two basic channels and they are acting like they have saved the world, OK maybe not but I dunno you think they would have given more? How can they be so with it when it comes to value and services on broadband but so clueless with the TV.

They're all about broadband now, TV will be just an add-on soon.

It already is just an add on.

I was a UPC defender but their TV offering is not up to much.

Don't just think Sky free to air is a real alternative now.
