    Hi,

I have a bit of extra weight around my stomach area and hips which I really want to get rid off. Starting the gym in a few weeks but I was just wondering has anyone any good exercises I could do at home till I start the gym? I'm also following weight watchers myself as my mum is doing it so using her books and things.

    Thanks in advance :)

You can't burn fat off specific areas of your body. If you want to get rid of excess fat on your stomach/hips all you can do is a lot of cardio. If you want something to do until you join a gym then anything from walking/running/cycling should keep you going

+1 to what iangobl said. If you cut down on carbohydrate or at least replace simple carbs (white sugar, white pasta, sweets and crap etc) with complex carbs (porridge, wholewheat pastas etc) you should notice a difference after a couple of days. Not always the easiest plan to stick to but its the quickest and most effective way I know. If your eating weight watchers own brand food, check out the sugar & carb count on the boxes.. I hear they're usually low fat but laden with salt and sugar which might hold you back. Good luck!
