    Hi Guys,

Thought I'd share the love for people who are longing for a tablet!

    SN10T1_500x500.jpg

Its a dual core tegra 2, which if im not mistaken is the sam cpu as the high end android tablets (Xoom and transformer)
    10 inch Capacitive touch screen
    HDMI out
    built in 13Gb of storage
    Additional micro sd slot
    Moddable (can add the market)

This is a really nice bit of kit for the price, no doubt the savvy of you will go look at reviews, and no doubt you will find the reviewers complaining about unresponsive touch screens and viewing angles... well hanspree kindly have revised this tablet. The earlier model, the one reviewed is the model 33. The one i got of misco is the new 53 model. The screen is bloody fantastic on it! excellent viewing angles, much better than my advent vega, and touch screen is very responsive.

Its very easily modded too, dont need to do anything with drivers or anything, just move files to the built in sd and away you go.
It has a growing modding scene, still quite small though. There is a version of honeycomb running on it, its a port from a gtab version if im not mistaken. Im not sure how good or bad it is though. There is some guys working on a dedicated honneycomb port, but no sign yet.
Im running a custom 2.2 rom (hannsTitan) at the mo and its very good.

    Links
    Tablet at misco

Fatcheese offer 4% back on misco purchases

Seems to be the best place to get roms

Link for clockworkmod (tool for installing custom roms)

Excellent OP, especially for the poor soul's who didnt get a touchpad!

While it looks good on paper, will it really be able to match up against the competition ? I have had plenty of devices where the hardware was great but the software just didn't match up. I'm going to hold out another while for a tablet, the likes of Amazon are going to introduce price competition with there own tablets and hopefully they should get another price drop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,264 ✭✭✭witnessmenow

To be honest i didnt use the stock rom much (its not my tablet) but the rom its running at the moment is spot on.

The only thing this tablet lacks is honeycomb.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,060 ✭✭✭darkmaster2

    Cheers op.

I smashed the screen on my old reliable dell m1210 so im on the lookout for a tablet to ease the pain ;-)

    This might do the job.

Cheers OP, Hannstitan looks great, hdmi out an all. Seems to be 50/50 with other suppliers for model version.
Thinking of getting one posted to my dad he's been looking for a tablet for his workshop. Is there any chance you could post a picture of the label so I can show my dad what to look for.

    Competition is almost identical.

Price competition.....erm, HP Touchpad at 99 euro....theres not gonna be anything more competitive than that.

Software....its android....If i need to explain this point to you then you should retract yours.

Also, link to cyanogenmod included by op. Good stuff.

Iv played with this tablet last month. i remember at the time thinking that why would anyone pay double for the transformer when they could buy this.

    Good find OP.

Sorry I dont have the tablet anymore, I was just modding it for my brothers girlfriend. He took it away this morning.

I havent seen the box, but the way to tell on the tablet is literally the last two digits of the model/serial number (cant rember which) will either be 33 or 53

You sure about the screen? A review I was reading said the screen had very bad viewing angles and video playback was awful.

Oh ffs I didn't, I'd say I need glasses but I already have four eyes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,264 ✭✭✭witnessmenow

Yeah dont worry about the screen once you get the 53.

I did not know about the different versions when i first got it, i just took a punt on it. When i started using it i couldnt figure what the reviews were talking about!

Any sense in waiting for it to come in android 3.0??
Is it slightly dated or does the custom rom make up for it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,772 ✭✭✭bazwaldo

This is very tempting. I have pretty much given up all hope of getting a hptp. A quick search and I see the upcoming amazon tab doesn't look too great spec wise, the archos has the specs but is a good bit more than 200 reportedly and is ugly, the zte is being rebranded by medion and will be 400+. So for 200 this is really tempting. A clincher would be a honeycomb rom.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,378 ✭✭✭✭jimmycrackcorm

From first hand experience this is a fantastic tablet. The custom interface is limiting though so it would be ten times better with a custom Rom.

Market access is another issue but that can be gotten around. I read on the Rom forums that someone already has a basic honeycomb Rom installed. I think it is better than the touchpad I'm currently using.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,815 ✭✭✭imitation

Dang you, I'm getting tempted now :D The only thing really stopping me is fact its Android 2.2, if a stable 3.1 can be shoehorned on it would be fantastic.

Ok I'm not that techy so maybe someone can give me a steer.

Firstly, I have Meteor mobile broadband on my existing laptop, something similar to this. Will that kind of stick work on the Hannspree?

Secondly, in terms of memory, is it possible to supplement the 13gb by using additional cards? Can you just slip them in and out?

It doesn't come with a full size usb port so your mobile broadband stick can't be plugged in, Although something like this may work, Im not sure.

It comes with a microSDHC slot so i presume it can be used for extra storage.

No Roms support it at the moment, and appears that no one is sure if it will work. If you are looking for a tablet that you can stick a 3g dongle into, this isnt it at the moment.

Get a samsung europa from three through fatcheese and use that as mobile hotspot, that way for €20 credit you get your internet with 20 euro call credit, free texts, 10 euro call credit free the next month.

Thats what I'm using on my hp touchpad definitely better than a dongle hanging off the side of the tablet.

Bit the bullet and bought it. No immediate guilt so must be a good purchase :)

Its a pity there is no USB A port as I would be using this a lot as a media player and have all the movies on a portable drive. I suppose the 13GB and whatever micro-sd I use will have to do.

Theres usb otg so at a pinch you could run your portable drive on an emergency charger and still be portable.

Is that using the dongle thing to connect the drive to the tablet as linked to an earlier post?

I suppose that may work for drives that are powered externally.

It got the better of me and i just ordered one too.

A big usb drive should work i assume for media etc, i have a 16gb floating around i just need the adapter.

Youse have me worried that I'll end up with a 33 model now... I assume if that happens I'd have to return it at my own expense.

Mine despatched yesterday but I can't see any sign of a tracking number. Would be nice to know when it will arrive considering the postage cost.

    Folks,

I emailed them yesterday and got the following response:
The version of the Hannspree Hannspad 10 we supply is model SN10T13130R1653.

This product runs Android 2.2. We currently have no details on any possible upgrades. Because it is Android packages such as Office cannot run.

There is no GPS unit present in this device.

It is 802.11n wireless compatible and has Bluetooth 2.1. It does not have 3G.

The USB port can connect to any USB device that is Android compatible. Unfortunately we do not have a list of compatible devices.

Looks like we'll all get the good version!!! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,262 ✭✭✭Vertakill

Any thoughts on the version of Android (2.2) and the possibility of getting 3.x on it in the not-so-distant-future?
As far as the modding scene goes, is this somethings that's close or is it a ways away?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,772 ✭✭✭bazwaldo

These USB OTG plugs may work for USb devices. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/mini-usb-on-the-go-host-otg-adapter-2-pack-50944. Can't find much confirmation online. All I know is that the OS needs to support being a USB host which would be ROM specific.

BTW, I've seen that there are some Honeycomb ROMs. I haven't had the time to see how good/where/how to yet.
