A&PI Virtual Pet Show 2011!

I think we need a forum mascot, so in true X-Factor style I've decided to launch a nationwide search for a star and couple it up with a virtual pet show. :D

Closing date for entries is Sunday 18th September. Voting by thumbs up to posts and winners of individual classes announced on Friday 23rd.

    Rules:

Maximum of 3 classes per poster please (so I can keep my sanity :p) - excluding class 15. One picture per post, if you want to enter the same picture twice you will have to post it twice for voting purposes. Your post should be in the following format eg.:

    Class 2 - Golden Oldies - Rover, age 12

    Then your picture.

If your entry requires a bit of explanation of why you are entering it in a specific class feel free to put this under the picture.

If I can't figure out how to resize enormous pictures I'll have to delete them, if you exceed your 3 entries I'll have to delete any additional posts also.

All classes with the exception of 14 are open to all species of pets.

The winner (1st place) of each classes will be awarded with a rosette (or at least a picture of one) which can be added to the posters signature. However if you post in other boards forums this may make you may look quite silly. ;)

Winners of classes 1 – 14 will go forward to the grand final for the title of Boards A&PI Official Mascot of 2011 which will be decided by poll. The owner will be required to write a short biography and chose a photo to go with it which will be posted somewhere appropriate within the forum stickies (possibly edited into post no. 1 of the Chill-out Thread). Sorry, can’t make a new sticky for the purpose I’m afraid!

    The classes are as follows:

Class 1 – Bonny Babies (under 1 year) – please state pet’s age

Class 2 – Golden Oldies – please state pet’s age

    Class 3 - Most Butch

    Class 4 - Most Glamorous

    Class 5 - Biggest Poser

Class 6 – The Aww Factor

Class 7 - Pets With Jobs

    Class 8 - Best Impersonation

Class 9 – Best Comedy Act

Class 10 - Most Mysterious Heritage

Class 11 - Best Action Shot

    Class 12 - Dynamic Duos

Class 13 - Happy families (3+ animals in the picture)

Class 14 – Most Dangerous Dog (per post below)

Class 15 - Pet videos (video entries in this class only, not the other classes please!)

Good Luck and remember - if everyone gives thumbs up to everything we will never be able to choose winners! ;)

    And the winner is . . . . 37 votes

    Class 15 - Pet videos

This was about 3 weeks after Phoe came for foster. He's taking his tablets. How could you not love that poor raggedy face with such loving and happy eyes?

I am entering this video because I think that it's really very cute, but it also shows the best part of Phoe. How he looks happy and enjoys the simple things in life even when things are a bit crappy.

EDIT: Apologies; for those not familiar with Phoe, the reason he has a stripe of hair down his back and barely anything else is due to an illness, which he arrived with. I didn't shave him. :D

Harley, our little female JRT, is 8 weeks old and the newest member of our family! She's one of our mammy Buffy and daddy Stars litter who we've decided to keep (good thing as well as she's an inguinal hernia and according to vet, it's pretty bad)

Star (left) and Buffy (right) our adult JRT's, they go everywhere together. In the night time they snuggle up on the couch and cuddle up like this old married couple, licking each other to death and finally falling to sleep.

I use Imageshack as it gives you the option to "resize" your images. The 640 x 480 (for message boards) option is the best one for here.Copy the "direct link" into the insertimagee.gifon the bar above your posting section and it should be fine.

Most computers should have Microsoft Picture Manager or something similar

Find the pic on your computer, right click and go to the option that says 'open with' and choose Microsoft Picture Manager. This will open the picture in the program.

Now click on edit picture at the top of the screen and a menu will pop up at the right hand side of the screen. Choose resize (so you don't end up with a huge photo). The percentage box is best to use and you can play with it until you get the picture to something around 500 x 400 pixels which is a good size to put in a post.

Save this under a new name (you will still have the old photo).

In your post click on the paperclip button and browse to find your pic and 'upload' it to your post and click on submit message as normal.

Now the sneeky bit. Click on the link to your picture after you have posted it, this should bring it up in a new window. Copy the address the (http://www.boards.ie/etc.....) bit.

Go in and edit your post - click on the button that look like a picture - (mountains and the sun). In the little box that pops up right click and paste in the address that you have copied. and submit your post again.

The link will still be there but your pic will also be imbedded in the post. Don't try to remove the attachment again or the pic will disappear.

If it all goes a bit belly up, don't worry about it. I can always save the pic on my computer, resize and edit it back into your post for you, as long as the attachment is there. I'll just need your permission to steal your picture.

It's not the long way if you have to open an account on an online photo storage site. Lots of people would rather upload directly from their own computer. The instructions are detailed, it takes a few seconds in real time and you don't have to wait a lifetime for photos to upload to a third party site. For those with mobile broadband in poor reception areas it can literally take 4 hours to upload one pic to either photobucket or image shack. ;)
