    Who's on?

Adele, Lewis Hamilton and Sarah Jessica Parker I think.

It is good to see Jonathan back, he will keep Graham on his toes too. I wish Tubs could attract some A listers.

Even with A listers Tubs is a disaster. Did you see him last night with Cuba Gooding?

Adele seems to be going for a record for most expletives per minute on a chatshow.

Murph0999 - I did and it was awful telly. I wouldn't consider Cuba to be an A lister, it is about 15 years since he appeared in Jerry Maguire.

Ah Feck, missed most of it. Stupid Sky+ putting UTV in 'other channels'.

I love when she sings "Set fire to the rain" and "Someone like you" but I can't bear her speaking voice :(

Bit of a letdown (if i'm honest).
I like her singing voice as well.

I'm so embarrassed, I have a video of my five year old singing "Someone like you" :o:o:o

Watched this today on RTE player and I didn't see anything wrong with Tubridy, CGJ only wanted to talk about his new movie, who cares about that.

He totally over reacted to the question about McGuyver.

Jos, the show was tame enough TBH.

Caught most of it, thought it was good for a first show. Id love to go for a pint with Adele :D

have to disagree cill dara, i thought he didn't have a clue and was painfully out of his depth.
Never thought i'd admit it but graham norton is miles ahead of him.

He's not even 40 and he goes on as if the events and popular culture of the last 20 years are alien to him

rte need to think about where they are heading because they are far far behind the curve

Anyone know what number UTV is on Sky?

EDIT: I fount it but there doesn't appear to be a UTV +1

Well I think he was reacting to the stupid question Tubs asked him about kissing Beyonce, having just spoken about his wife. That annoyed him and Gooding was putting Tubs in his place.

The one thing I really like about Jonathan is his irreverence, unlike Tubs, he is not overwhelmed by celebrities and he is never afraid to poke fun at them (without p1ssing them off).

Ok - go in to Services,

Select Add Channels and input the following:

    10.891
    H
    22000
    5/6

Thanks but Add Channels option is not there. Going to stay watching Ghost Town on BBC instead

When you select "Services" you may have an option called "System Setup" - you can select this and then you should have access to "Add Channels" :)

It was a slightly disappointing line up for his debut show on ITV.

Adele seemed like good craic, the other guests were a bit dull.

I do like J Ross, but it seems to be a direct copy of his BBC Show (minus the Poofs), which had pretty much ran out of steam two years, regardless of ManuelGate.

Hope I am wrong, also, It's only an 8 part series, not much time to get it right.

Dull is not a word I would use to describe any F1 driver.

Well maybe Michael Schumacher (off track) :D

Many of them are complete Dweebs off the track.

Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve, for example, have all the charisma of a pair of Physics teachers who spend their Mid Term Breaks playing Call of Duty.

Harsh comments !!!!!!!!!!! Both were decent drivers. I liked Villeneuve on the track but he wasn't a patch on his father, Giles.

In my opinion F1 has never been the same since Senna was killed at Imola. I was a massive fan of his. Now, he was a driver with buckets of charisma. The battles on the track between Senna and Prost made F1 so exciting, unfortunately, today it is a fairly dull sport by comparison.

I stopped watching F1 around the time MS stopped winning.

since them F1 is about as exciting as non league football.

Senna was racing proper F1 cars, with v12 engines that would kill most drivers now in about 20 minutes as they couldnt handle them.

cars now have more toys than harrods and more telemetry $hit that is necessary.

    zzzzzzzzz

Yes, they were both decent drivers (Both were World Champions) and very pleasant individuals by all accounts, but that does not make them interesting interviewees.

Nothing much to say, afraid to say anything which will upset their sponsors - a lot of Athletes make uninteresting Talk Show Guests.

If you were a fan of Senna's, you should check out the Senna DVD - No Fear, No Limits, No Equal, it is due for release in October. My brother has pre-ordered a copy for me. I can't wait to see it :)

I suppose alot of Talk Show hosts don't have much knowledge of F1 and that is a problem too. It must be frustrating for them to have to appear on shows when the the host wants to focus more on their personal lives and wealth and not on their actual sporting achievements.

It's a general audience, most of whom won't be interested in F1, so they can't get too technical with the questions

If he came on and said "Lewis, that was a great head to head you had with Vettel at the Nurburgring last year' or whatever, most of the viewers who lose interest unless there was a funny story in the answer fairly lively.

Better to keep the detailed F1 chat for his interviews with Jake Humphrey and Martin Brundle or whoever, and have a few funny anectodes ready for J Ross and the like.

Wow, I don't know any rich people yet I know plenty who like F1 as well as many other sports, so that's your theory fucked right out of the window, eh?

It's exactly the same as the BBC show except with a stupid city landscape behind him! I loved Adele, she seems so normal and funny. Poor guy she was talking about must be fairly embarrassed though. Lewis Hamiltion was a bit sleazy I thought, and I'm surpised he had Sarah Jessica Parker on his first show...she's so difficult to interview and her interviews with him on the BBC show always looked awkward.

i saw the lewis hamilton interview, it was rather dull!! Modern (professional) sports stars seem to be all living in a bubble thse days.

Typical modern chat show where the presenter is considered far more important than the guests. The great Parky put it very well when he said that the secret is to ask the right question & then shut up !

I would love to see any of the modern crowd trying to interview Ali.

Parky would of asked Hamilton whether he really did go off on a sulk & try to talk to Red Bull !

I love Jonathon Ross and think that keeping to the same format and style works well.
Sarah Jessica Parker seemed really nervous and not at all up for fun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,961 ✭✭✭✭Discodog

The format depends on the guest being happy to be JR's stooge. If you are promoting a film, book etc then JR offers a prime slot so your agent will want you to do it. JR uses the "I am your mate" argument & that will put some guests off.

In contrast Graham Norton has a reputation for being very funny but still respecting the guest. His guest lists have featured a lot of big names.

Has anybody been watching this for the last few weeks?

I think Wossy is pretty good, but not on ITV, he really seems neutered and some of the stuff on the new show (celebrities dangerous entrances etc.) are really bloody lame, as are the jokes.

I know he is getting well paid for it but I'm slightly embarassed for him...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,070 ✭✭✭Tipsy McSwagger

It's not great. He spends too long with the likes of Lady GaGa and Horseface off of Sex and the City and not enough time with interesting guests like Lee Evans.
