Recommend a good well rounded diet

I want to reduce my food intake and lose weight gradually over the next 6 months. I generally eat healthily (Lots of fruit & veg) but I slip up around 2 or 3 times a week and choose an unhealthy, convenient option. I know I need to cut out the crisps, chocolate, kebabs etc. (But not the pints!) but can anyone recommend a good diet option that doesn't revolve around cooking an evening meal? I'm back home at around 8PM after work and don't have the time or inclination to cook a big meal for myself. I'm looking for food ideas that are more like snacks - vegtable based things I can eat at around 8 o clock that are more like snacks. I'm going to try to reduce my red meat intake to once a week and have lean meat (Chicken, turkey) maybe 3 times a week at reduced amounts. Any advice welcome.

Why are you trying to reduce your meat intake? Meat is very nutrient dense. Calorie for calorie, it provides much better nutrition than things like rice or pasta or potatoes. I would cut back on the crisps, not the steak.

When you say you don't want to cook, does that mean cook at all, or you just want something which is easy to cook and involves no hassle? I find it as easy to pan fry a piece of salmon as it is to put something into the microwave.

    What are you eating now?

if you keep some potatos/carrots/otherveg prechopped in the fridge, you can just throw them in a steamer and grill some chicken/meat and be done in 20 minutes

you might not feel like cooking after work atm, but if you get into the habit and if you have the pre-cooking stuff already done beforehand it'll just become routine.
