Do I put hot or cold water in?

What else is there to need to know about how to use one of these things?

    Cheers.

Never used an iron before so please excuse my ignorance

    Water?? YOU MAD!
Put in about 250ml of petrol and 50ml of oil then just turn it on full heat.

press it against your face to test the heat before putting it on your cloths.

    Cold water.
What material are you ironing? (important as to set the right heat level)
Is there much creases? (In other words, do you need the 'steam' function or just a light ironing?)

Don't iron your clothes man, you'll look like a square. Leave them crinkly, creases are hip daddio.

Cheers, it's mostly cotton I think. it's just a light iron, just a few creases.

There are no women on the internet.
You're not gonna get a sensible or anyway correct answer here.

Do not attempt to iron clothes whilst wearing them.

Just buy cheap disposible clothing in Penneys.
There'll be none of that washing or ironing malarkey ever again.

If it's very light material be sure to set it to the highest temp for the best results.

Usually, the inner collar label will give you the necessary temp' level for your iron.
If its heavy creased, steam function/setting helps better. :)

Step 1 Get a girlfriend, wife or mammy.

Step 2 Iron their favourite item of clothing, scorch it and you will never have to touch this dreaded appliance again.

    1. Make sure that you have the correct stance and grip of the iron.
    2. Keep your head still.
    3. Swing your hips and club away from the ball.
    4. Follow through and then watch where the golf ball ends up.

You can also heat up the iron in the microwave if necessary.

    5. Moan constantly at the person sitting on her arse on the couch

OP, if your ever unsure as to the correct temp to set it, start off at a light temperature and test on a small part of the material, to see effect. If having no effect, work your way up in temperature till you get the desired effect you seek. Never trust 100% the iron settings in relation to the material your ironing. Some materials can (depending on quality) can react badly to supposed right quoted settings.
Over time and with regular use, you will get a feel for what is right and wrong. Good luck.

It's best to iron your jeans or trousers inside out to prevent the shiny look , especialy on black trousers .

Make sure you put the heat setting up to 11. Most irons only go to 10, so if you have one of these then bin it and go get a proper iron.

Remember not to attempt answering the phone while you are ironing.

    It's easy:
    1. Find a woman
    2. Give her clothes to iron (women without irons are not to be trusted!)
    Job done

    Old joke alert:

How did the Kerry woman fall out the window?

    She was ironing her curtains.
