Setanta have just launched one where you get points for meters gained turnovers, loss points for knock ons etc ( i copied the below from the site), seems much more geared towards the overall performance, and whoever on top of the league after the 1/4 final stage gets a trip to the Final, eek.gif get in!! I know theres a similar thread to this open but people in it are looking for a site more like this one, so thought I'd just pass it on.

    http://fantasyrugby.setanta.com/

    Position Try Scored
    Forwards +10 points
    Scrum Half +8 points
    Fly Half +6 points
    Backs +6 points

    Position Drop Goals
    Forwards +10 points
    Scrum Half +6 points
    Fly Half +4 points
    Backs +6 points

Position Successful Conversion / Penalty Kick
    Forwards +5 points
    Scrum Half +2 points
    Fly Half +2 points
    Backs +3 points

Position Missed Conversion / Penalty Kick
    Forwards -5 points
    Scrum Half -2 points
    Fly Half -2 points
    Backs -3 points

    Additional points for players
Played 60 mins or more +2 points
Played 59 mins or less +1 point
Sent Off (Red Card) -5 points
Sin Binned (Yellow Card) -3 points
    Tackles Made +1 point
    Tackles Missed -1 point
Every 10 meters Gained* +1 point
Lost Play: Turnovers Won +2 points
Lost Play: FWD Pass/Knock On -2 points
    * Metres gained refers to the total number of metres a player carries the ball during the game.

In addition to individual points, each player who plays in a match earns/loses points based the performance of their team in that match.
    WIN +3 points
    DRAW +0 point
    LOSE -3 points

Ok I'm joining the Boards.ie league...

Anyone care to post up there a screenshot of their teams yet?
Haven't the best Rugby head & need some inspiration :D

Also, wouldn't mind if got a sticky of the two fantasy leagues going? wouldn't be easier for everyone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 98 ✭✭footie_fanatic

I was having a look at the other Fantasy rugby site, its a bit poor, like you can pick 8 back row players in your pack, I think that takes away from the whole point, thats like having 11 striker in the footie version, and the scoring is far less reflective of a players results than this one, like i think its good to have turnovers, meters run, knock ons etc having an affect on a players overall performance,

I just think this is a fairer version, bit hard to navigate at first, but cant have it all.

and the prizes aint bad in this one, I doubt ill win it ( not even near) but mite have my eye on one of those weekly prizes :)

Haven't the best Rugby head & need some inspiration

Look up bookies sites see who they predict to do well, they're never wrong :)

Yea, I rekon you get more after the group stages, but sure If you could pick anyone you wanted it would be too easy,, just mix the NZ and Oz team :) I wonder can we add this thread to the sticky with the other fantasy thread.

Alot harder to pick a team than the Irish Times one, pricing seems to be alot harder. Would of picked Beale except he's put in as a fly half and Carter owns that spot

    Hey Guys,

According to rules you are allowed 5 transfers per week and transfer takes place for following day.

Does that mean you can say transfer out a player from New Zealand after their 1st match and put in say a player for Canada who playing on Wed 14th(still game week 1) and basically get points for same position twice.

Yes, as long as you do the transfer before the mach starts on Wed 14th, match starts at 6am so before 5.30am to make sure it works, and of course then your down to 4 transfares left for the week.

Yep its unlimited transfers for untill first match with New.

So you can pick 15 players tomorrow when you know most of the teams are named. Then after the New game you can take out a few of their players and put in other players that are playing same game week.

That makes no sense surely when you name your 15 and first match kicks off.Any transfers after that do not take place till following week 2 ie Sept 15th??

You get 5 more transfers for following week starting Sept 15th so you can basically have 20 scoring players in first week?

I would assume it's set up so that you can't score points for one position twice in a week.

You pick your starting 15 before the first match that week, you then can make 5 changes that week, that's it.

Are you saying that you think you should be able to have more changes, if that's so, fair enough, not a bad idea but not in this game.

No man i saying if you can make 5 changes in that week does that mean you can potentially have 20 scoring players?ie 15 starting then remove 5 for 5players who are playing on the Wed which is still game week 1 then you get 5 more transfers following day for week 2?

Its only fantasy league that is confusing.I presume you cant have 2 players score for same position?

Yes you can, If there are 5 matches in 1 week you could make 5 changes at the same position is you wanted to.

You might be better looking at 2 matches a week with the big gun's in them and load the team with their players.:D

The deadline is a few minutes before the first match of the round kicks off. That's your team for the round and changes come into effect for the next round.

It's not clear at all from the rules. The Irish Times specifically states that your team is locked in for each game-week. This one is unclear. Stating you have 5 changes per week I would read simply as saying you can make 5 changes between each game-week. You can't make changes on the Saturday evening of a 6N fantasy tournament and expect to score points for those players on the Sunday.

First week starts 9am 9/9/11 and you then can make 5 transfers between the 12 matches untill 10 am 15/9/11.
It's actually before the 8.30am kick off the Russia v USA.

That's right but with the 6N you then have a week or so between matches then you are locked in for the 3 matches, with this there are 12 matches 1st week,10 2nd week,10 3rd week and 8 4th week.
So the 5 changes during the week help or in some cases not.

You have this all wrong. It looks like 8 matches in each round except one has 9 and another 7.

The changes can be made at any time. But changes made during round 1 will have no effect on that round's score. It's the same rules as the Super Rugby competition they did.

    That's correct.
You will receive 5 transfers to use durring 09/09/2011 - 15/09/2011.
Please see the game rules for full details of transfer allocation dates.

    Good Luck!

    Hi,

When you transfer a player in, they will begin scoring points from the next kick-off date; you don't need to wait until the next week.
Also, just for your information, you can transfer a player out of your team after a kick-off and you will still keep the points he earned for you. Even if you transfer out a player during the game, while he is still playing, you will keep the points, as long as he was in your team at the kick-off time.

    Thank you,
    Support Team

So 5 transfers per week, times and dates on Setanta page starting from 9am 9/09/11.

Yes ,I think like the I.T. one, when you retire a player for a game their points are kept and stored in a sub pool of players that have played for you and you should be able to get an over view of all players used over the whole tournament.
20 players score for you if you use them all each week.

There's no sure way to do it but pick strong teams against week teams (NZ V Japan) and look at the wings and centers, bound to be plenty of points.
leave matches like USA V Russia alone.
