    OFFER EXPIRED

I stole this deal from "goonertilidie" at hot uk deals, it looks great to me. Logitech are really spoiling us lately:)

Blemished box means just that - it's brand new and comes with a full warranty and you just chuck the box away

    Amazon.co.uk £286.94
    Pixmania.co.uk £307.00
    Play.com £337.99
    dabs.com £354.70
    BT Shop £361.72
    Ebuyer.com £413.26

Logitech has taken its award-winning Z-680 speaker system and made it even better. How? By improving everything from the subwoofer to the satellites and adding new innovations like real-time digital sound equalization. The result is the Logitech Z-5500 Digital, a THX-certified, 505-watt 5.1 surround sound speaker system that offers everything you could possibly want... and some things you didn't even know you needed. And once you plug in your PC, DVD or music player, or video game console, you'll never want to listen to anything else.

It's a 7 yr old system and still tops people's reviews. Would buy if I could:o

Set up this system for the SIL last year, they have a big open plan living/dining room about 40m2, placed the speakers on two opposite walls and the sub in the corner, no problems filling the room with sound, I gave her an old Motorola DC800 bluetooth adapter I had lying around so they can stream to it from a Macbook wirelessly, works great. Would definitely recommend this system.

[Edit] The only negative I would have on this system is that if you are wall mounting the speakers I personally think that the standard wall mounts don't look great as they have a very big footprint but there are loads of aftermarket mounts available which you should be able to use, check Ebay or Maplins etc.

Ive had this system for at least 5 years now, and its still excellent. Currently have it hooked up to the HTPC in the tv room. The sub is BIG btw..

Speaking of which, slight issue with the sub not being entirely EM protected (in my old house, fluorescent light downstairs being turned on/off used to make it pop/crackle, new house has no FL, so no bother now.).
And it also humms a bit when in standby mode - only really audible within 1ft-1.5ft I reckon. Could just be my one though!

Well worth the asking price though, I highly recommend.

Not at anything like this price and quality.

You can get a universal transmitter and receiver kit that could make the rear speakers of of this system wireless, but I've never used one so can't comment if they are any good. Try googling, probably going to cost at least €100 for the kit.

Run the wires under the carpet, or behind the skirting board :)

I was thinking about these a while back but I ended up getting a pair of these (Alesis M1 Active MKII):

    (not my personal setup).

Later I bought a cheap tube amp and a second hand pair of DT150's

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beyer-Dynamic-DT150-Beyerdynamic-Headset/dp/B000LDPP1K

Didn't really cost that much more and I'm happier in the long run.
The Z-5500's are a decent bargain at that price, but I think it really pays to shop outside the spectrum of computer audio products.
