    paying mine today

The office told me that as long as they receive the payment before registration, it's okay. They said try to get it done before Fresher's Week starts.

ePay says that fees (in general for all years) are due tomorrow, so my mom doesn't want to take any chances and is doing them today... even though the bank still hasn't processed my loan application :/

Wait, what? Don't the government pay our fees? Or do you mean the 2085? Terribly confused now >.<

I don't know whats wrong but I can't get on the epay.tcd.ie website. My Internet browser says the server isn't reachable!

The Government does pay our fees, but ePay is used for all years, including postgrad and fee-paying courses. We have to pay the 2085 ourselves via ePay/giro etc

All years except us have to pay by tomorrow but my mom's just freaking out and wants to err on the side of caution

Right, thanks for the info. I can get on the site now if I google it, but not with the direct link. My browser (Opera 11.5) also says that the site isn't safe. Regardless of that, I'll probably pay the money in the next few hours.

My ma's gonna kill me when I tell her about paying this... :P

There wasnt a whole lot of info about when to pay fees in the orientation packs tbh.

I'm hoping I'll only have to pay the €85 myself but dont know when to pay it.

Saw something about fee demand letters which I haven't got and don't know if I will get.

Looks like another phone call to the fees office :o

I didn't get such a letter yet either.

Well just looked up my info on epay system and it's showing full amount for everything there still  I'm definitely ringing the fees office at 2 o clock

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 337 ✭✭Ash_M

I paid yesterday and haven't received any confirmation email yet.. Should I have gotten it already or is it not automated?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭steve84

I did see on there that confirmation can take 3-5 days. You mind me asking what you paid on there/are u waiting on grant etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 337 ✭✭Ash_M

Oh thanks, I guess I missed that bit :P I paid the full 2085, I'm eligible for absolutely nothing grants-wise it seems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 169 ✭✭Phareon

I hadn't heard anything about this epay thing before today, and I doubt I'll be able to come up with this 2085 before tomorrow O.o I think I'll just wait for these fee demand forms they told us about, until next week :O

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭steve84

No worries, glad ta help :D I'm hoping I'll only have to pay the 85, but I still don't have confirmation from the grant so I'm counting on it coming through..Still getting over the shock of seeing approx €7500 on the screen when I looked up epay a few mins ago  Gonna ring them (again :p) and try find out what they want me to do..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 337 ✭✭Ash_M

7500?! Are you paying for more than one person/accommodation or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭steve84

No it's showing up the tuition fees aswell as the 2085!

That's why I'm gonna be ringing them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 337 ✭✭Ash_M

Does anyone know what the story is with handing in the form FRS2 for those who have previously attended some part of a third level course..?

I should only have to pay half fees after attending half a semester of first year before, but epay is telling me full fees are due. Will this change when they get the FRS2 form from me I wonder? :S

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭steve84

Ok so just off the phone with fees office and was told 2 things:

1: The 1st September deadline is only for continuing students, NOT for incoming first years.

2: As I have just sent in FRS1 and GF1 forms yesterday, I dont have to pay anything until I receive an invoice from them. This will be issued to me when they receive and process my FRS1 and GF1 forms.

So going from this, I just sit and wait to receive an invoice in the post.

Thanks for the info. I wait then too and don't pay the €2000 today. I paid the €8 for the Student's Union though.

Oh dear O.O Was I meant to wait? I just paid the 85 euro because I'm fairly certain I'm getting the grant. It said I had to pay the 2085 though =/

I'm sure they'll tell me soon enough if I owe them money...

Does the government pay your fees even if you haven't got the grant yet? :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 169 ✭✭Phareon

I'm not gonna pay anything until they explicitly tell me to...

I think it says for nearly everyone on the site that you have to pay €2085, regardless of whether or not you have applied for the grant. I only paid €8 so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,101 ✭✭✭bscm

Just paid... it only told me I owed 2085 and I sent off the FRS1 form yesterday, but I did contact the office last week so maybe they processed my info then :)

Thysol, I was thinking of paying the €85 (€77 sports centre and €8 students union) but I'll wait now til I get an invoice.

Polka Dot, I'm sure it won't matter that you've paid early :)

KiwiMoll, the government pay the tuition fees if you're eligible for the free fees scheme. The grant (if you get it) pays the €2000 student contribution (registration fee). If you don't get the grant, you have to pay the €2000 yourself. I'm not sure if TCD will want us to pay the €2000 if we haven't heard back about the grant yet.

Either way we have to pay the €85 I mentioned above ourselves, unless you're on HEAR scheme (thanks for that info Thysol).

Not the HEAR people though. They don't have to pay the sports centre charge. Just saying because it said so in the letter I got from the HEAR people.

Thanks thysol, I didnt know that! :)

Thanks Steve84! :) So the 2085 doesn't have to be paid by the first??

Kiwimoll, going by what I was told on the phone it doesn't have to be paid by the 1st except for continuing students. I'm not sure if it'll have to be paid before registration though. I haven't heard if I've got the grant or not yet so I'm hoping that they'll wait for the €2000 til I hear back from the grant.

Thysol, no I'm not on HEAR scheme. Wasn't sure if I was eligible..

the 2000 has to be paid by registration or else we can't register. I've been told if you don't come in with a receipt or some proof of payment then you'll be turned away until you have paid

the FRS2 has to be signed by the college you previously attended and they say how long you were on their books. The amount you owe is then adjusted, or at least it was for me but that was 3() years ago so it might have changed. If you are worried call the Treasurers office and they will sort it out. You'll be grand so long as fees are paid before you register and you can always pay a different amount than the one listed on the giro/epay.

I haven't gotten any e-mail yet either but surely they'll send one at some stage! The website said it'd take 24 hours anyway.

it said to print off the page, I assume we'd get a receipt or something in the post/email. Also your statement from the bank/credit card would be proof

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,536 ✭✭✭Mark200

You'll get an e-mail if you put in your e-mail when you were paying. But don't worry about it, as far as I know they'll only need proof of payment if for whatever reason you're not down on their records as paying. I don't think I've ever been asked for a receipt.

You all need to relax a bit!

I haven't even handed in the form yet! :/ Didn't know I had to get this done til last week, and I won't be getting down to Limerick to get the yokey signed til next Tuesday, so guess I'll be stressing out about it for the next few days...
Though, I figure as long as I post it straight away then there should be no worries. Think I'll call the Treasurer's office tomorrow to be sure to be sure, they do give us the option to pay only the first half of the fees on epay so I'll ask them if that's what I should be doing and let ya know if there's any panic about it :)

Didn't work for me yesterday. It worked if I didn't use the direct link and just Googled it. Weird.

Also Opera was causing some problems with the site, Firefox or Internet Explorer works fine though.

Does someone know when we will know whether or not we get the grant?

Would amazed if someone can answer this, but I'll give it a shot.

This morning I switched from Natural Science-TR071 to Theo Physics and Maths-TR035 (thanks to round 2 offers). But now I'm trying to pay my fees online, and it still says that I'm down for Natural Science. Do you think that paying now might lead to problems during registration?

Leave it for a bit. TCD only gets information about accepted offers when CAO closes (they only got the info about 1st round on Friday), so your info will change when CAO closes or else if you contact TCD directly
