Experiences of disabled driver assessment (especially if IWA assessment)?

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had any experiences of disabled drivers OT assessment, especially if it was done through the Irish Wheelchair Association. I am interested specifically in what was actually involved in the assessment (like what did you have to do, were there different tests)?

I don't know if I would be able for a 2 hour assessment, so I want to try to figure out whether I will be or not. I only found out today that it was a 2 hour assessment. I am going to try to get a hold of the OT to see if she will answer my questions, but I might not be able to get a hold of her before Friday(I got a letter today about an appointment on Friday). To be honest it has been like pulling teeth trying to get information out of the person I have been dealing with so far .

So I would be interested in what was involved in the assessment to see whether or not it is worth my while trying to proceed on Friday, or whether I should just drop it alltogether.

Contact the IWA on 01 8186400 and ask to speak to someone in the Driving School. I'm sure they'll answer your questions....? IIRC, they check your range of movement and try to ascertain what kind of adaption(s) you need to a vehicle, based on your level of disability.

The IWA offer the same thing, AFAIK.
