Rebel commanders say Khamis Gaddafi, one of Colonel Gaddafi's most feared sons, has been killed in an air strike 60km south of Tripoli.

He is said to have been in an armoured Toyota Land Cruiser when it was reportedly blasted by a missile apparently from a Nato Apache helicopter.
Sky's chief correspondent Stuart Ramsay, who is at the scene, said a man claiming to be Khamis' bodyguard confirmed that he had died in the vehicle.

Whatever it takes to tidy up the odds and ends before normality can be restored for the ordinary citizens that just want to get on with their lives.

I thought they were only bombing targets that were a threat to the people . How is a toyota jeep a threat . This has to be a shoot to kill policy

I wonder how long it will be before the rebels get completely pissed off with the US now. It will be Iraq and Afghanistan all over again.

This has to be a shoot to kill policy

As opposed to a 'shoot to offend' policy?

He was the commanding officer of a brigade of the Libyan Army, and as such a valid target. This brigade was not particularly popular. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/8728597/Libya-last-act-of-bloody-vengeance-by-Khamis-Brigade.html

Because if it was a Toyota then it's a civilian car not a military car so now the people who want libyas oil are firing on civilian cars to get it

The iPhone 5 is due out sometime in November

If verified, it looks like the vehicle was clearly marked for targeting by either Special Forces on the ground or an agent within the Gaddafis inner circle.

"shoot to offend" I don't understand that maybe a bad attempt at sarcasm. I thought the planes were in the sky to protect libya's civilians not to kill their leaders I know he was commander of the khamis brigade I really don't think that should make a difference it looks like he was trying to escape they did not want this

I am pretty sure getting rid of that sadistic bastard will indirectly protect civilians. Here's hoping there is a vengeful hell waiting to give him no rest for the crimes he has committed and authorised.

Khamis Gaddafi was a good bowler, and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors... and bowling, and as a surfer he explored the beaches of Southern California, from La Jolla to Leo Carrillo and... up to... Pismo. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Khe Sanh, at Langdok, at Hill 364. These young men gave their lives. And so would Khamis. Khamis, who loved bowling. And so, Theodore Khamis Gaddafi, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, which you loved so well. Good night, sweet prince.

If he had surrendered or was in the process of surrendering then it could be considered bad form to blow him to bits.

Attempting to escape doesn't however qualify as no longer being a threat so he was a perfectly legitimate (and important!) target.

Seeing as how you just finished your leaving cert you're most likely a good ten to twenty years younger than your son.

I'd look into a paternity test.
