ok I just watched those two video parts and I will start off with this...

firstly the person that was recording these lights does not know how to focus the camera in as it is seriously out of focus.

secondly they show nothing but out of focus lights. that person needs to learn how to use a video camera because it is pointless recording anything like this if you don't know how to focus in on the object.

    ...thanks for the critique!

i thought this was a good video

i dont come across a lot of ufo in ireland vids so i thought it would be good to share when i found it....doesnt look like just out of focus lights to me but thats just my opinion

I use cameras myself but I can tell you 100% that those recordings are completely out of focus on both videos. at the start of the video you can see the dots of light clearly but as the user focuses in, the sharp points of light are distorted and clearly well out of focus.

sorry for sounding a bit harsh but this is the truth. also I wouldn't rely on any youtube videos regarding recordings of ufos as the majority would be cgi faked as well as all the other fakes being put on youtube unfortunately.

the technology we have now with new software like photoshop and other cgi software make it soo easy to fake anything.

here is a good example of how easy it is to fake a spectacular ufo/ufos...

The video is so dark that all it's possible to say is that it shows a light. There's no way of telling if it's an alien mothership, or someone with a torch in their back garden.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,145 ✭✭✭lolo62

ive seen that fake zenno it couldnt be anything else....

the fact that its really far away means having to zoom in so much it makes it really hard to keep the picture steady...this guy isnt a ufo hunter so it was just random sighting

i do totally agree with there being a lot of fakes out there but i dont believe them all to be...

Forget the video skills my self and the other half seen something like this near Naas about a week ago. Its hard to say it was exactly the same but it looks really similar. Neither of us are UFO nuts or anything and simply went out to look at the sky. At first we though it was a star of a plane etc it was neither. It was too fast, too bright and traveling in an odd path.
I/we truly believe what we say was something not sure what but we know we seen it.

don't get me wrong I have seen quite a few myself over the last 20 odd years and I am well versed in astronomy and distinguishing between all kinds of aircraft meteors satellites and other atmospheric phenomenon so I do not discount peoples sightings.

also I have studied this UFO phenomenon for over 20 years now and keep in contact with irish and american UFO study groups.

but it is very important that people know how to focus any video properly because if they did capture a very good shot of an unidentified flying object (the correct term is unidentified aerospace phenomenon as it might not be a physical object) then the video or photo would be easier to work with for computer analysis.

as it is known, 95% of UFOs are misidentified or atmospheric phenomenon and also meteors aircraft planets etc... but that still leaves 5% and in this case the 5% of genuine unknowns has a huge database to study.

studies on airline pilot sightings and radar recordings are more in my field but just remember that if you do see something unusual always try your best to get the best possible recording or photo.

The problem with most videos at night is due to the lack of light and points to focus correctly, the auto focus goes crazy trying to focus and when you add in the digital zoom that most consumer cameras have on them it degrades the quality of the video even more.

I wouldn't say its any fault of the person using the camera but merely the low quality of camera the light was recorded with, but also the inexperience of the camera user on focusing and night time shooting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,633 ✭✭✭maninasia

Also you need a point of reference to help judge distance and size, that's obviously hard to do at night.

I'm of the opinion (an obvious one at that) that any military test flights from America to England and vice versa would fly over the Atlantic and our little island quite safely away from 'unfriendlys'. Like that 'world's fastest plane' thingy I linked a while back and have come over all lazy to go relink.

No one paid any replies to it and I was heartbroken.

sounds like you have a lot more experience than me at discerning this kind of thing zenno so i appreciate the advice..thanks!

i havent been arsd up until now to get out there with myself with a camera but maybe ill give it a go

viadah ill be having a look at your 'worlds fastest plane video' soon as i post this!

nice vid.. i hardly doubt its fake.

at this stage im not sure what purpose having good video or photographs will serve anyway.. the fact is, these things are out there and people are really seeing them.. if you dont believe it, or havent experienced it yourself, no amount of video is going to persuade you otherwise.

would you be able to give a bit more info on what you saw? was it just a moving light or did you see the whole orb thing too?

thanks dyer! well said...have you seen anything lately? i still havent seen any but am planning some trips to the mountains as that seems to be the best for sightings....theres a guy on youtube called 'ultanbear' who has a good few videos up too

She saw it first and we both thought it was a bright star or maybe a plane. We do get planes going over the house but they have certain flight paths. This was not one of them.
I went out and the first thing we noticed was its shape, very like the footage shot in Dublin. It flew in like an arc rather than a straight line. It stayed above us for about 5 or more mins. We stood staring at it as it was very bright like an orange colour then it glowed and throbbed various colours.
After said time it flew off. I know that sounds silly but it was literally there above us doing its thing then it flew really fast to the right. I mean faster almost than you could follow then it just disappeared.

I understand the this may sound crazy but it was amazing to see. I/we truly believe we seen something that's no aircraft etc.

The video is obviously genuine but it means nothing.
It could have been the ISS for all we know. In fact around that date there were some very clear sightings of the ISS. I saw my best sighting to date back then.
Once the video is blured enough, it tends to make objects look bigger than they actually are. The fact that the "thing" appeared to be moving about seems to be more down to shaky camera work.
The 2nd object which we couldn't really see was probably just an aircraft as said in the 1st video.
    It's nonsense really.

nice one thanks! thats really interesting...its hard to tell from the video how much of it is down to shaky camera and zoom...the darting movements definitely rules out satellite etc..

doesnt sound crazy to me...i wish i had seen it...keep us posted if you see more!

I experienced a similar event in Wicklow town In August 2010, I posted about it here and the explanation I got was that it was a guy with a kite like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zM0m_Oeod8k. I'm still not convinced it was a kite though as it moved away at a considerable speed and you could see it fade into the distance, it was a round/oval shape, quite large, and it "glittered" with flashing lights.

lol at the video... i was bored and starting checking up old ufo threads id replied on.

i guess the simple answer is.. some of us have seen these things, and some of us want answers, so we ask questions on boards like this, because we are searching for the truth and want to know how and why.. and people who have no idea what theyre talking about, give answers about things they think they know about.. you saw it.. they didnt.. so in retrospect, you are the expert.. if you see something quite literally out of this world that defies any conceivable explanation you can find... just be thankful, that you are one of the lucky ones :)

    re: what i said before

if it makes your life any easier, go ahead and tell yourself, thats all it is, just a few chinese lanterns.. be my guest.. go ahead and delude yourself.. i just hope that you see it for yourself someday.

people who see ufos are supposed to be crazy or something.. thats a given right?

id rather be called crazy than a fool..

The op asked what it could be. All I said was that I agreed that it could be a Chinese lantern.

I never called anyone crazy. Is it not better to suggest things that it could be then the op can decide for themselves whether they think it could be that or something different?

I will not be replying again as I don't think this is the thread for getting into it, all I wanted was to help the Op to try identify it without being prejudiced.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 598 ✭✭✭dyer

apologies.. i was a bit drunk when i replied here before and reading back on it i was being a bit offensive. tbh i was just a bit peeved that so many people think chinese lanterns are at the root of all these sightings.. and yes i know some of them actually can be, but there are a vast number of cases where this just isnt the case.

you can see that in the video in the OP, the 'object' is pulsating in different colours, and also appeared out of nowhere by his account.. you can also see white pulses of light appearing from the sides and lights flashing on either side of it.. you can also hear a witness beside the camera man who is vewing the object through binoculars, who can see strands of energy coming out of it. it then changes colour completely and glows much brighter before it disappears. so in this case, i hardly think were talking about chinese lanterns..

anyway, apologies again for the rant.. ive had one too many arguements about this subject and i should probably take a break from it :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,145 ✭✭✭lolo62

thanks for all the replies guys....

this is not my video but i came across it on youtube and thought it was interesting as there are tonnes of sightings in the US and elsewhere, not so many here

i dont think its a chinese lantern as i see them on a regular basis and they dont look like this...its always clear to see they are burning and the object in the video i posted has completely different characteristics

Trying to identify stuff at night by video is very tricky. Personally i don't see a whole lot in the video. I'm no expert, but i have had two genuine daytime sighting in my life. It has has effected me deeply, somewhat!! i One of my sightings happened when i was young. It took place March 30th 1993. Theres a big write up about UFO flap having happened in Ireland around this time you can find it on the net. In England it was called the Cosford incident. I had another sighting then in 2007 while travelling home from London to Shannon aboard a commercial flight.Even, i find it hard to believe the stuff i have seen. Tell most people they'll think your nuts.

is this the same one you saw? http://www.nickpope.net/cosford-incident.htm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,633 ✭✭✭maninasia

I looked into it aswell. There was a soviet rocket re-entry that night that accounted for almost all the sightings. There was a report of an army weather officer sighting an odd 'craft' at a different time that night in Cosford, later he agreed it was probably a police helicopter. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot to the story beyond that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 598 ✭✭✭dyer

yeah read up on that as well.. seems most aspects of it were covered by the rocket re-entry.. either that or the rocket entry itself also caused some activity. anyway.. staying on topic..

heres another vid of a ufo filmed in america very similiar to the one in OP.

this particular user has invested lots of money in video equipment to capture all this activity in her area so most videos are shot with high quality military grade scopes, nightvision etc and available to watch in HD.

if you're impatient.. ffwd to 06.15 where you can see the original footage zoomed in with software.

I hate to be a spoil sport here but I think this video might well be a conventional aircraft. I've seen hundreds if not thousands of aircraft land at night and it is exactly the same as this video, a very bright ball of light. Also, the wingtip navigation lights are clearly visible in the video which consist of a red light on the left wingtip and a green light on the right wingtip, this can be seen in the video from 7.31 on.
The sparkling can also be easily caused by zooming in too much this can also flare a light source.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 598 ✭✭✭dyer

id like to see one of said videos of conventional aircraft that are exactly the same as that video

in fact, the same user posted another vid to show what conventional aircraft DO look like on the same equipment she uses to capture these ufos. she does live beside an airport but is well able to differentiate between the two. i know it sounds absolutely cracked.. but a lot of people are now of the belief that ufos have begun to mimic the lighting of our own aircraft.. think of that as you will, it's not something i've ever witnessed for myself either.

I'm just stating my initial observations from the video. Also there are many reasons why you have to take any video posted to sites like youtube etc. with a pinch of salt these days.

Two of the main reasons being:
    1) Most of the time you have no idea who the person posting the video is.
    2) You have no way of telling if the person is telling the truth about anything in the videos they post.

A good example of what a little know who can produce on a standard desktop or laptop nowadays.

    haha cool vid :)
there are many reasons why you have to take any video posted to sites like youtube etc. with a pinch of salt these days

    trust no one eh? :)

well that's a given. however that particular user appears to be legit and seems to be passionate and genuinely interested in the subject.. she correlates her sightings with frequent radar reports from her local airport (which is actually a small tiny local airport which doesn't support big aircraft.. her sightings do not appear on these reports btw), local law enforcement, other witnesses and videos of the same events from different locations and people etc. i don't think there's much more that could be asked of a person who studies a phenomenon science largely ignores and ridicules and i'm glad there's somebody out there who's willing to do this work for free and for our benefit. she also has videos of military helicopters which are uncommon in the area, scouting the vicinity when these objects have appeared. some of the objects she has discovered, are invisible to the naked eye and only visible when viewed through an IR scope. there is also an old cold mine i believe with the presence of heavy elements in the woods close to her home, which has been linked to numerous ufo sightings in the past eg; Hessdalen.

people are always complaining about the lack of 'good quality video' .. when it's given to them.. it's still shot down. it gets compared to 3D graphics instead of being ridiculed as a pixelated mess, or the persons character or sanity is called into question. i don't understand it, but i guess in a way i do.. because nobody can ever understand this subject without having seen it for themselves.

i wish i had videos of some of the things i've seen and experienced but unfortunately all i have is my shoddy memory to rely on.. but it's not something ill ever forget, and i consider myself lucky that there are more and more people out there now who are willing to share their experiences and gather as much evidence and information as is humanly possible for an amateur at this stage.

Where did you get this information from? Does the author say this on their website, youtube channel or videos?! Do you know them in person and they told you this?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 598 ✭✭✭dyer

much of it is covered in her videos yeah.. she shows the actual radar reports she was given. i've had some direct contact with her online as well.

no, i haven't met her in person, nor do i have any reason to believe what she posts is fake.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,990 ✭✭✭Ziycon

I'm not trying to have a go at your belief system but its very hard for someone to take any of the information relating to ufos as fact now-a-days especially if its found on the internet.
Everyone is entitled to what they want to believe in but if its a case of a video clearly being explainable by known means, if people still continue to believe in something in the video that's not there this is when you start to get into problems.
There is enough fake/CGI video out there that make people believe they've seen a 'alien' ufo when after a bit of research they would find its nowhere near as interesting, this can cause problems for any 'real' research into the topic for any serious researchers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 598 ✭✭✭dyer

i totally agree with you there. would you consider yourself a serious researcher? and if so, have you found any information you would deem as credible evidence/information or, are you a complete skeptic?

my 'belief' system is based on my own experiences, so perhaps i am biased as far as that's concerned.. some of which i 'believe' simply cannot be explained through other typical rational means. unless of course, the military do in fact possess technology that defies gravity and all our preconceived ideas of modern aircraft.. if you do the calculations involved, a human being could not withstand the forces that would be present in flying such vehicles and the maneuvers they perform.. that's just a simple matter of physics and something most people fail to take into account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,990 ✭✭✭Ziycon

I would consider myself a serious researcher but to date with exception to when I was younger I've never come across anything that I couldn't explain after some investigation and digging.
I would say I'm right on the line between believer and skeptic as it would affect the outcome of any research if I was biased to one way of thought.

You say this as if physics as we know it is 100% correct when in reality what we know as humans to be physics is just a human interpretation on how we understand the world around us to work, it by no way means that its all valid and correct and that we haven't gotten it wrong.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 598 ✭✭✭dyer

what did you see when you were younger if you don't mind me asking?
You say this as if physics as we know it is 100% correct when in reality what we know as humans to be physics is just a human interpretation on how we understand the world around us to work, it by no way means that its all valid and correct and that we haven't gotten it wrong.
are you saying this, as opposed to an intelligence other than humans?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,990 ✭✭✭Ziycon

It was just a few lights in the sky and no I'm not saying it as opposed to another intelligence, I'm saying it as in what we know as physics is what a human mind came up with to explain the way the world works. Its not necessarily how the world actually works, it just 'fits' for now.

You don't open a 1000 piece jigsaw and know how it goes together straight away, you need to get the right pieces in the right place before you can get the overall picture, which can take time.

Getting a bit off topic now, but I still maintain that the video is an aircraft of conventional means.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,633 ✭✭✭maninasia

I'd have to label those videos with one word, dodgy. One of the videos clearly shows an aircraft with standard lighting configurations and many other effects are just related to the lighting conditions, sensor, lenses etc.

I'm also very suspicious of people who go out to prove something 100% and to be honest the previous CGI posted here is a great example to show how videos are really of not much use.
