Hi, I'm a 23 year old girl, I've been taking zolpidem (sleeping tablets) the past few years, but the past year it's out of control, the longest i've gone without them is 3 days and when that happens I get panicky and withdrawls, I've got them off my doc, bought them off the internet, robbed some off family members etc. I decided today that I'm gonna stop taking them and go cold turkey, I don't know what to do to stay off them, I don't fancy going to NA meetings is there an alternative? I've been addicted to other stuff before and just want to break the cycle, i know it's not gonna be easy and I have alot of under lying issues. Anyone who can help me I'd really appreciate it.

Sorry if I posted in the wrong thread.

I think what you should do is go back to the doctor who first game them to you. Going cold turkey may not be the best thing for you. Best that you seek professional help with this.

I'd recommend finding yourself a good counsellor, someone with experience working with addiction is an advantage but not essential. You said you've been addicted before and in my opinion it'll prob keep happening until you have a look at your "underlying issues".

A doctor will be helpful for the medical side of your situation.

I've worked with addicts for years so I've some experience with this.

Do you have anyone you could stay with for a month? A few members of my family take in people who are going cold turkey from heroin, so that the addict has someone who can monitor them, mentor them and get them over the addiction. Any siblings you could talk to about this? Failing that, look outside immediate family members. I've only heard bad things when parents have tried to do the same thing to sons.

OP, you need to seek professional counselling. I'm going to leave this thread open so someone can recommend you a counselling service. Anything else will be deleted
