The International Council of Women, who are the de facto single voice for all women worldwide released a press statement on this only last month.

Different women go for different things. In my experience, there's a lot more variability in women's choices than in men's.

I can't answer the poll, because I prefer just normal.
Not fat, not muscly, and not thin.
I like guys with good broad shoulders, and an average body.

I actually would choose chubby over muscly though any day - hate muscles.
Toned is good of course, but not into the rugby type bodies.

None of the above. Not fat, not thin, not muscley. Just 'normal'.

Unless the majority say they're into short, rake-thin dudes who look like the bizarre love-child of John Lennon and Weird Al, pretty sure I'll always hate it.

    Fuck you, genes!

    Not thin. Fit-ish.

Beggars can't be choosers,I will pick muscley,thin/cuddley but not fat.

Broad and strong but not too muscly, definitely not too thin though, I might break him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,713 ✭✭✭✭Novella

I think it goes without saying that not every woman is gonna like the same thing, but anyway, personally I prefer slim.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 444 ✭✭ZzubZzub

I voted thin, because I couldn't pick between that and muscley... My OH has the oh-so-very-sexy v shape at the hips, a defined 6 pack, sexy biceps but isn't overly muscley, ie the bulges on top of the shoulders which is gross.

He thinks he's scrawny though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,443 ✭✭✭Bipolar Joe

I actually ****ing hate it when ladies say they like thin guys, but what they mean is toned or defined. You're thinking ottermode, not thin.

Being overweight is pretty much normal though!

Thin (Ewan McGregor in Trainspotting kind of thin, even though maybe not a great example because he didn't look like a naturally skinny wee fella), followed by fat and cuddly (within reason, Zack Galafianakis yup, John Goodman no, and they have to have the right kind of face for it).

Not muscly though, not swimmer's body, not rugby player. Reasonably toned fair enough but any kind of veiny or bulging muscle I find really unappealing. I really wish I could think of words other than bulging and veiny, or failing that a penis joke.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Lean close and listen well:

Different women like different types of men

I know, I know! Impossible to comprehend right? That's why this must stay between you and me, k?

Lean is the word I would use to describe the build I prefer. Hate muscles, though natural ones from doing work are not as bad as the six pack, pumped up meat head down the gym look. Thin always strikes me as a word to describe a sickly looking fella. Fat and cuddly not so much, though I'd like to think I wouldn't let it put me off a really nice guy, if I was on the market:p

If I like a man, I like a man. Doesn't really matter what built he is. I don't really have a type.

Prefer thin men. Happily married to a tall slim man. Happy days. :D

    Useless question to ask.
1: Not all women are the same.
2: Most of them haven't got a f*cking clue what they really want, and it's nothing even remotely like what they think they want.
3: Even if you get past the first two, it's almost impossible to get someone to tell you the truth on this, because of society's pressure not to be shallow. You will NEVER get an honest answer to this question.

Just do what I do. Have confidence in yourself, but aim for the muscles in the gym anyway. Nothing to lose by trying, even if it's not the key to being attractive it's still fun and refreshing to lift weights, clears your head and gets rid of your stress.

I think the preference is the one you think but wish it wasnt so cuz that would mean you'd have to either cut back on the doughnuts or start a weight gaining program. On the other hand you could just buy the lies and deny the reality. Goodluck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,568 ✭✭✭candy-gal1

Biggish and cuddly all the way, theyre just more attractive to me tbh :) really Really muscly guys have no appeal to me really, and skinny is okish maybe as long as its not anorexic looking skinny. But I need something to hold onto ;)

Given your usual vein of posting on the topic of women, I really think you should consider the gay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,614 ✭✭✭ArtSmart

25% went for fat n cuddly.

    new thread.

Why do women lie, even on an anonymous poll? Are they really that ingrained in the 'looks aren't everything' dogma?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

What about men with an Atari Jaguar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 514 ✭✭✭Michael 09

For everyone saying 'normal' that means skinny with a bit of an 'irish' belly.

The only reason girls don't like ripped guys is cos it makes them more self conscious of their own bodies when they're with them.
