Hey guys, just found this site

    http://www.fantasypro12.com/Default.aspx

Instead of a predictions competition, it's a team based fantasy game a la Fantasy Football.

I haven't registered yet, but does anyone have any interest in trying to get a league going on here for it? Would be an impressive achievement to win the thing if we got a decent number entered.

Not sure how points scoring etc is decided, and this is obviously a big deal. But I couldn't find any other similar games on my (very short) search for something like this.

If anyone has another recommendation for a better fantasy game, we could go with that too, but I think we should definitely have enough interest in a game like this to get a decent number, and potentially blag a prize if someone badgers the good folks at RaboDirect/Pro12 enough...

    Thoughts?

This could be a tricky one as there is going to be a hell of a lot of players used by each team in this years competition.

Jesus that was tough to get under the 100!

Was in the process of designing a similar site, but that'll go on hold until I see if this is any good.

Points were WAY too easy last year (managed to come 10th after missing three weeks of transfers).

The OH points are a bit high, but i think everyone else is ok-ish!

He costs so much cause he was he 2nd choice PK last season for leinster in addition to his other skills imo

I think if you can pick out a few placekickers who don't play OH and will kick during the WC you will get a big pull up

EDIT McFadden is the most expensive center for the same reason, he is a placekicker

I think the points are actually based on how much they scored last year. All those players had very high scores.

Keatley rated higher than O Gara!
14.5 million a bit steep, had Howlett and Visser but had to drop them. 100 million is tough. I have quite a mediocre team. Saying that at least they're not at the RWC!

One thing I noticed is that new signings from outside the Pro12 are all at 4.0

So Sykes Payne Berquist (for some reason he is a SH bu that just means I get an extra placekicker) are all 4.0

Just crashed the site though :o Was trying to select Swift so it's all Connacht's fault really.

Bloody hell that was tough. Not helped by the lack of first team players leaving me wondering who the hell some of the Welsh fellas in particular were!

    Anyway...

    1. John Afoa
    2. Richardt Strauss
    3. Wian du Preez
    4. Damian Browne
    5. Ian Nagle
    6. Justin Tipuric
    7. John Muldoon
    8. Xavier Rush

    9. Matt Berquist - he's a SH  :P
    10. Dan Biggar
    11. Craig Gilroy
    12. Lifeimi Mafi
    13. Nevin Spence
    14. Andy Fenby

When you select your squad there's no confirm option for me. Is that normal?

Yes, your team saves everytime you make a change to it, so there is no need to confirm

You see Keatley had more points than ROG

Yes, it's based on last year.
Keatley will be good value for it, O'Gara will miss most of the season through internationals.

Yeah I picked him but he cost me Doug Howlett. Still reckon Keats will kick the points and maybe a try or two as well.

I don't like Nacewa, for such a high value you have to expect him to score a lot of points. The reason he got so many points last season was because he was the second choice place kicker. If Berquist is the place kicker when Sexton isn't playing then Nacewa won't give the return you would expect for over 1/8 of the total value you can spend.

And will Berquist be playing on a regular basis, do you think?

And is Johnnie Beattie injured, does anyone know?

I reckon Berquist will play untill the WC is over (when I may transfer him from my squad) and possibly after when Sexton isn't available.

He will play enough to ruin Nacewa's value in fantasy rugby

Am I missing something? Will lots of these guys not be away at the WC for the first six weeks so won't score points?

and Diack is likely to be second choice as well Whitten is probably Ulsters #5 center #4 during the WC so probably wont get a lot of game time

Im hoping they give keatley a good ol run at 12 this year. He played a lot for connacht there. A munster back line of Murray - OGara - Earls - Keatley - Barnes - Howlett - Jones would be quite tasty, and has no foreign journeymen :P

Between the WC and the 6 Nations next year Sexton will be missing for a good bit of the season. It looks like Madigan and Berquist will be battling it out for the 10 jersey at Leinster for the majority of the Magners. So far Berquist looks very good so should be first choice. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at 12 and Madigan at 10 either tbh, with Berquist taking the majority of the place-kicks.

Not possible cheapest player is 4 credits
TOH might be a decent 4 credit option at winger

Looking for a change somewhere else might be a good idea.

TBH i would splash the cash on the wingers/fullbacks first.

Yeah I was forced to drop Isa at the back, I put Payne in there for only 4 credits which could turn out to be a bargain but I'm not sure if he has linked up with the team yet.

I dont think so. They didnt last year.

However last year you could fit Peinaar, Paterson/Nacewa, an OH, all on the same team with ease. In fact it was hard to hit the cap. This year its impossible to field a great team, and hard to make a good team.

The ITM cup has finished so Payne will be available from next week on. Then it depends on when Ulster decide to play him.

I've no idea how you got all them players on the one team. I have:

    Mefin Davies
    Brett Wilkinson
    Jamie Hagan
    Damian Browne
    Mick O'Driscoll
    Rhys Ruddock
    Justin Tipuric
    Xavier Rush
    Paul Marshall
    Ian Humphreys
    Casey Laulala
    Danny Barnes
    Tim Visser
    Doug Howlett
    Jamie Smith

Nice call on the hooker, I'll probably try switch them myself ;)
I had Payne in at full back but switched for Smith as he isn't playing tonight.
Not sure if I'm going about that right though as I'll probably look to change Wilkinson from prop too.
Everyone seems to be putting two 10s in at half back, is that the right thing to do? Does it get you more points or does it recognise it?

There is a mistake on the website and Berquist is listed as a 9. You can only have one of each position. To score you want to get points which mainly come from scoring tries kicking penalties or conversions. There are also points for each game played and how the team does in general. Because of this placekickers are the most valuable players. Berquist is new to league and they do any research on new players they just assigned him a value of 4.0. This means that Berquist is going to be an incredibly cheap placekicker for the first few weeks.

There is a message at the top of the screen saying "You are limited to 1 transfer this week, any extra transfer will incur a 3 point penalty from next week's score". Does anybody know if this applies only from next week on?

I've been changing my team all week and am finally happy with it, but if they count transfers this week I'll be minus lots and lots of points. I assume the penalty only applies from next week as there have been no warnings as I've changed the team - anybody know for sure?
