Baffling that we then have two hookers on the bench...

Loving the look of that team!

yep when we add Shaggy, D Kearney and Jennings to the mix it'll be a pretty decent second string team....

EDIT and Nacewa for crying out loud!!!

Very strong team considering so many big names are out.

Conway, Carr, O'Malley, Fitzgerald, Madigan, Hagan, McLaughlin, Ryan...

    what a production line....

    First String v Second String:
(Nacewa, Horgan, BOD, D'Arcy, Fitz, Sexton, Reddan, Healy, Strauss, Ross, Cullen, Sykes, SOB, Jennings, Heaslip)
    v
(Kearney, Kearney, O'Malley, McFadden, Carr, Berquist, Boss, VDM, Cronin, Hagan, Toner, Browne, Ryan, McLaughlin, Ruddock)

Would be some game! 21 full internationals on show, youthful exuberance of the 'B' team might even win out...

what an incredible game that would be. The breakdown would be intense! Possibly two of the top 5 back rows in the Raboleague

I'll b in attendance. Looking forward to it. Really wanted to see Bergvist but I know Madigan deserves a run.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,599 ✭✭✭✭CIARAN_BOYLE

I think this might be Madigan's last start at 10 for a while. Its a major risk imo to throw in a raw SH without an experienced OH or a raw OH without an experienced SH so when Boss was sent back to Ireland Madigan got a run.

Can you please start a petition to have this match played post world cup, yes there are massive injury risks, but **** it. Would be epic.

Really looking forward to this game now. How sweet would it be if that Leinster team beat a near full strength Northampton?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,257 ✭✭✭Hagz

Obviously that is a strong Northampton team, but it only contains 5 players who would/might start in Northampton's best XV. Diggin, Downey, Myler, Dickson, Mujati. It would be a great win, but it isn't a near full strength Saints team.

I heard he was, but can't remember what the injury was. I remember thinking it didn't sound too serious so wasn't worried.

Really looking forward to this game now. The guys did a pretty good job last week so I'd be hopeful this week.

    Leinster 0-3 Northhamton

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭durkadurka

0-9 at ht. Luke looking lively. Weva had a few chances and not taken them.

Lineout ok, northampton had three pens, if we keep at it we should get over. Had a few silly knock ons which cost us including Madigan and locky.

Not too bad for a b team warm up game.

D Kearney on for luke. Cooney on. About 15 subs on

18 minutes to pull 14 points back from Northampton is loads. I wouldn't worry about it.

    *ZING*

    Sheridan is a giant!!!

    how serious are the injuries?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭durkadurka

There were no stretchers but I saw sheridan in crutches at the end.

poor old jack McGrath must have been the only sub not to get on.

On reflection Conway looked good, he's bulking up and made an absolute cruncher of a tackle. Leo auva made a savage break, ruddock is a monster, Dom Ryan motm for some reason, Cronin was lively, cooney looked good when he came on, made some great tackles, Madigan looked like a magners player but berquist looked classy. Luke did well, nice to see d Kearney on.

But to be honest too many subs and things still a bit rusty. Without the benefit of replays my memory is a bit ropey and I was on the touchline so didn't see everything too well.

Pretty dull game until the last 5-10 mins. Interesting how Ryan got MOM and there was a whole page dedicated to him in the program. Only messin, he was very good, as was Ruddock. My personal MoM though was Macken. Very physical and made the last try with beautiful skill.

I can't see Madigan going too far. His passing is weak, his kicking game is anonymous both off the tee and on it. The only thing he has going for him is his step. Still, he's a useful squad player. Berquist continues to impress me. He has a beautiful kick and he's creative.

Overall an understandable loss. Northampton came with a mammoth pack and kept it tight. Few injuries out there for Leinster - Luke, Sheridan, Sykes, Conway. None of them too serious though IDT. Luke's looked minor and it looked like he was taken of to be safe. Similar story with Conway. From where I was sitting it looked like Sheridan was knocked out or something, he looked very groggy walking off. Sykes hobbled off without assistance so he's not in too bad shape. Scrum was iffy, mainly due to early engagements etc. Line-outs were a mixed bag, probably leaning towards the poor side of things.

    How did Downey play?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,257 ✭✭✭Hagz

Haven't a clue. Wasn't really keeping an eye on him. None of their backs looked great though. Cato seemed to be the most threatening.

Hows Carr lookin ? Have high expectations of him this season.

Very quick and dangerous. The only criticism I could have of him from what I've seen is his defense. But other than that he has been one of the shining players in these two games. Interestingly enough, I think Conway is even quicker. Auva'a smashed through some defenders and gave it to Carr. It was a good chance to see his pace as he sprinted down the touch line and he is ferociously quick, but I think Conway might be quicker.

Pretty sure racial abuse is worse than tweeting.

Yes but is tweet the way to go about getting rid of it, I find that sort of tweeting childish? Players can make formal complaints and have it dealt with.
