Hi, just wondering if anyone knows what an RAC Certificate & how do you go about getting one?
My other half has a van that he uses for work. His boss only pays for fuel & my other half bought the van, pays for tax, insurance, doe, service etc.
He sent in Claim Forms for Car Expenses & Capital Allowance for the past few years, but has just gotten a letter back from the Revenue asking for a letter from his boss confirming that he pays for fuel only & asking for his RAC Certificates.
I've googled it but I'm unclear as to what exactly it is.
    Thanks!

The RAC certificate required by Revenue has nothing to do with the Royal Automobile Club, motoring or vehicle breakdown but refers to Retirement Annuity Contract, normally referred to as a personal pension.

An RAC certificate would have issued from his pension provider confirming the contributions made during a particular tax year.

Ah ok, came across 1 or 2 references to pensions & wasn't sure why. We submitted med 1 forms & the car expenses at the same time. They sent him his P21's for the years claimed for, asked for us to resubmit his car expense forms with a letter from his employer & to sent his RAC forms, so I thought they must relate to the van.

Mustn't be anything to do with them so. He has a PRSA with Irish Life, so must have RAC Certificates somewhere here.

Thanks a mil. He works for a very small company (3 people), so gets no advice in work.

Would the RAC Certificate just be the half yearly statement? That seems to be all that is sent regularly?

    Hi

Its usually an annual statement sent by the pension provider.

    Kind Regards
