In the same boat myself. I was considering taking up Yoga, dunno for sure though, at €120 it's expensive.

There was a topic here, don't know if it's any use to you.

Hey, thanks for replying. None come to mind, I'm not even aware of most of the social bodies/activities in Mullingar outside of sports clubs :/

I'm starting college on Monday but shud be free most evenings and weekends, I'd love to make new friends or even do something new in Mullingar tbh

There are a lot of exercise and dance classes here, if you're a guy tho the only things i can think of is Thai Chi in the Greville arms and GAA clubs, it's awkward to get started makin friends :p but when u make the first one then it usually gets going from there

I'm just home for a week before I head off to the US again.

But, for this week, I'm in the same boat. Pretty much all my friends from Mullingar have moved on to other countries or Dublin (which may as well be another country for me, hate the fcukin place!).

So I'm free all this week, and at the weekend. So I'd be up to meet people for a pint/coffee or whatever? Thurs night maybe?

    as is spinning
lots of astroturf soccer around the town
    rugby club
    handball/racquetball

Yoga to meet people for lads??
Yoga seems like a great hobby or lifestyle but there's a yoga place around the corner from me in Belfast and its all 30 something women I see going in and out. Nothing wrong with that but hardly where a 27 year old male (me) would go to meet new mates.
Also the I find the gym a bad place to meet people its not a very social place kinda a solo thing.
Team sports are the way to go tag rugby being great as you dont have to be the next all star to take part in it.

Work is usually a good place to start and depending on your age/family situation move in with people around the same age. This applies to single people in their 20's mostly I suppose.
If you can pull a pint doing a few hours here or there in one of the popular bars will get you known.

Maybe a thread with a list of activities about the town would be a good idea, I'll do a bit of work and pull a list together and we can add to it.

First they came for the socialists...

Any takers for a game of 10 pin bowling some evening?? I think they also do leagues from time to time but you've to form your own team...of 4 I think? I'd be really interested to hear from anyone that might be up for this.
    Cheers!

Very cute gals, and guys. I must say :) What about the pub? few cheap pints and a laugh to be had round the town too. The Old stand is great for a midweek pint. Bar staff ar real friendly an pints are great and very cheap :)

I do agree, pub/drinks is probably a good idea as most of us will probably have different interests and a pub is quite a laid back atmosphere for a meet up! Id love to be a part of it anyways. I'm a 21 year old female, moved here about a month ago.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 611 ✭✭✭T Corolla

Going off the subject is there anyone looking for a running partner for a couple of days a week in Mullingar

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 260 ✭✭Longford Lass

Where are all those people who said they'd be interested in meeting up??
    C'mon folks!!
I've had some private mails from people re a meetup which is great! But most of them are saying 'let me know where etc etc....but sure if we dont have a few definites its hard to get this off the ground.
Is it a case of people being too embarassed to post on thread or what??
Anyway...lets see how this pans out over the next day or 2....
