But while all the stance and form boys can have all their fun with air-ride's and camber and seriously expensive wheel set-up's, theres plenty of boys packing serious performance to keep fellas like me drooling into engine bays for hours. A turbo engine hanging out the back of a Beetle is always a good look right??

In a blatatent two finger salute to the "shiney shiney guys", this guy rocked up in a VR6 converted Golf that he'd done in 4 days in this wee garage after blowing up his last engine

    17334807286_596c7540e9_c.jpg

But if there was a single car drawing in the more eagle eyed petrol head the last few days it's been a preety non-descript looking white Mk2 Golf built by DonkeyTec in Germany. Car is fully standard outside and in but once it takes off it's a different story. Running 4wd and a turbocharged VR6 that can run anything from 800-1000 BHP depending on boost settings......and fully road legal

@CianDon , needles to say I am very jealous that you are over there and I am not! I have been following the coverage over the last 3 years - I must get over some time :pac:

Anyhow, please keep up the great photos. Not many people are into those sort of cars, but as I am very young and very "foolish" then I am in love with these "sort" of cars :D

Not trying to tempt you or anything but you'll get to Ljubljana from either Stansted with EasyJet or Luton with WizzAir and then it's about an hour across a proper 15 odd hairpin alpine pass to Worthersee ;) Doesnt matter what your into its all here. Theres groups of supercars rolling around together, a crew of American muscle cars flew past today, there's plenty of JDM yokes like Silvia's, Supra's and Skyline's about, got passed by an E-Type and 300 SL last week and every manner of vintage of German cars around aswell

Driven one. Not hugely impressed actually! Very very fast, but the interior is a complete disappointment and the traction control system is poxy. They do sound good though...

Normally I like the sleeper look... apart from the pipes and the badge youd hardly tell it from a 520d in passing.
But when you end up looking like the pack of tarmac merchants that were creeping round my estate in limerick the other day... not so much.

Isn't the sound in those artificial? Almost certain I've read that the sound you hear comes from speakers on the inside as opposed to the engine/exhaust :o

    No pic.
Saw a nice Alfa GT heading into Dublin. I was excited to see 3.2 V6 badges on it, thinking it's a proper machine.
    Cartell says it's a 1.8 :(

It's crazy how the subtle differences between the E65 and E66 can make such a difference

The facelift made that car 1000 times better looking imo.

Are we taking bets on how far it'll make it? :D

They're in my top 5 cars, it's just a shame they get bad reliability reviews from owners.

I've read them before. There's also been reviews on pistonheads from owners who's cars have spent as much time in the shop as they have on the road. Still though, they love them.

Take all the Cannonball news with a bit of salt. There's talk and rumours of several big hypercars coming every year - some of them show up, some of them don't. Think it was the 2nd or 3rd year where the organisers claimed that a Veyron was being flown from Dubai to take part. Last year a Jag XJ220 and Bugatti EB110 were confirmed but no sign of them on the day.

Like every event this need advertise itself as well. Putting hypercars on "confirmed list" is one of the way to do it.

But last year list didn't have a Jag XJ220 or Bugatti EB110. Last year was first where all the cars which were "accepted" were taking part of Cannonball. (except SLR722 which broke down and which was changed for Murcielago).

All I can say about Cannonball is: it is supercars event #1 in Ireland but it's one of average events for me. I have visited much better events in Europe and Cannonball is just a closing of season for me every year. There is no events after that I'm going to.

Let's just leave a Cannonball and do not talk about it anymore. We will see what's going on there in September. I will go there on Friday like every year and will try to follow them on day 1 to have some different photos than typical Dublin photos. Then we can talk how it was this year for 5 pages but now I think we should post some photos of "What I saw today"

    :)
