After the successful completion of the World Cup Draft from last year, why not have a Premier League one this year?

It would be run similar to the NFL draft, one the player is picked he cannot be picked by anyone else. I imagine 20 players, and a random selection to decide position and then reverse order in the next round, for example pick the first person get's picks, 1,40,41, etcetera.

Maximum of three players per team and you cannot pick from the same team in consecutive rounds. These measures are to ensure teams end up somewhat equal and that players pick from lower clubs as well.

Rounds 4 and 9 will be wildcard rounds. 4 will be a league legend round, you can pick anyone whoever played in the English league, Best, Henry, whoever you want. 9 will be a rest of the world round, pick whoever you want that plays in a current league anywhere in the world.

When picking, feel free to add in a brief paragraph about the player and what he will add to your team. While this is not required, I would ask that each pick be accompanied by a picture of the player at the very least. If you miss your 24 hour deadline, the next player can go. It will be up to you to make sure you don’t miss this deadline. You can still choose whenever you can but players will be snapped up that you may have had an interest in. If you don't feel you'll be online at the time of your pick, send someone a PM and they can pick for you as proxy.

After the draft has been completed, there will be a seperate draw and each team will play off against each other until there is a winner. A thread for each match will be opened and will stay open for a certain period, in which both managers get their say as to why their team is superior to the opposition with fellow fantasy players voting on this.

The most important thing is that guys gotta be regular loggers on, if you delay and keep missing goes the whole process will lose it's element of enjoyment and become tedious. So we need forum regulars.

I'm not sure why there is a lack of interest, people were very keen on the world cup draft last year.

Re rounds 4 and 9, I think they will vary things and introduce a different element. While Messi and Ronaldo would be the glamour picks in the Rest of the World round but certain teams may need Xavi or Casillas or some other player to fill their needs. The difference between the top 20 players in the world isn't massive. And the legends would again offer up some different results.

how long will it run for? I'm back in college in a month so wont have loads of free time like I do now. I'll join though but if it goes for 2 or 3 months I may not be able to...

thing is though, let's say I pick Ronaldo in the legends round. Can someone then pick him in the rest of world round? Not many players that would be in this but the likes of Fabregas and Alonso would be pretty big picks.

I imagine a month or so. Depends how quickly but the last thing anybody wants is for it to drag into tedium. Will I put you down provisionally?

Maybe a stipulation like player has to be retired to be considered a legend and that would sort that out.

well Bamboozlin said 18 after NoelJ, then 2 more said they were in so i guess we have the magic 20 and all that is left is people to fill a potential reserve list. Guessing a draw can be made now for order of picks in rd 1 & 2 and as Bamboozlin got this going id guess its up to him to do so.... so get thinking about who you'd like as your top draft picks.

and despite some names being obvious try not name picks on the thread before they are taken cos i kno itd piss me off if i had someone in mind only for them to be taken by someone who had no intention of picking them but someone else made a post reminding them of their availability / eligibility.

Assume also that all picks are judged on current ability with the exception of the legends round where they will be judged on their prime in the prem.

might be good if any participants have questions like these to get em out now before we get started.

As I said in my last posts its important certain things are clarified in advance for instance does the above mean that each match-up is judged on an individual basis and that when picking players we should solely consider a players ability not their susceptibility to injuries for example or their personality?

and id agree with a random draw and PMing the participants but no need to wait a day just start whenever the person drawn number 1 can make their first pick

i think for round 4 it might be easier (to judge) if it was legends from the premiership only instead of going back to the 50s and 60s when people would more than likely be judging players they have never seen

but this is bamboozling show so its up to himself

MarkC91 and whatawaster in at spot 19 and 20. Slick Ric becomes first reserve. If someone has to pull out Slick inherits the team and continues picking for them.

Fair enough we can switch Round 4 to Premiership legends. However if a player played in the premiership towards the end of his career, ala Bryan Robson, then he should be judged on the whole of his career in my opinion.

For players like Morientes or Gullit or Davids etc, whose best parts of their career were outside England, will the whole career be counted or just the spell in the English top flight?
