Anyone know what a reasonable price would be for a Nintendo advance SP, the second model with the better back-lit screen? 60euro seem reasonable, this includes delivery, charger etc?

Meh, just bought one for 50 quid . :D

Yeah, 50 or so, posted is about right, the AGS-101 is known now as the desirable SP, I'm sure a few short years ago you would have picked one up cheap as chips when the seller had no idea of the rarity and value of the thing.
I love mine, it is possibly the best built Nintendo ever, great design, great screen, compatible with every game that had the word "Gameboy" on it, lovely.
Battery life seems to be killed by the new screen a bit though, although that may be just mine and easily remedied by ordering a new, higher capacity battery from Dealextreme or someone similar.

Which do you think is the better console, the 101 or the Micro?

Still haven't gotten around to buying a 101 myself. They look excellent, but I'm not willing to pay over €40 for any GBA. Managed to get the Famicom Micro for that, so I'm sure I can do the same with a 101..eventually!

101 would be much better, at least for Pokemon!

But the Micro is so so pretty!

The 101 is more robust, the Micro attracts screen scratches like the PS3 attracts fingerprints.
The 101 is more compatible, in fact it is compatible with original GB as well as GB Color titles, unlike the Micro which only works with GBA games.
The screens on the Micro and 101 are wonderful to behold, the colours hopping off of the screen at you, much in the same way the DS Lite was such a wonder compared to the original DS, but, due to the size of the Micro screen, at times text is a little hard to read, so if you are into your RPGs it may be a little straining.
The size factor though, well, the 101 is exactly the same size as the SP and so is a substantial piece of kit, it does, however, feel incredibly solid, only the DS Lite comes close. The button positioning is perfect, for me at least, and the screen is tucked away when not in use under the hinged lid, so, despite my 101 looking worse for wear on the casing, inside the screen is perfect.
The Micro is gorgeous though, and I have had some enquiries from onlookers as to what I was playing, they had never seen one before. It is lovely and compact and is, allegedly, deliberately designed to thwart the mobile phone games that were invading Japanese playing time in those years.

So, on size the Micro is the best but in every other matter the 101 comes up trumps.
Only problem is the relative rarity of the 101, the Micro seems much easier to find.
But, should you see the 101 on an auction site for €50 including shipping, grab it up!

Oh, and one other thing, Ninty, in their infinite wisdom, designed the Micro with an individual charger, the socket isn't used on any other device.
The 101, on the other hand, uses the same charger as the SP and the original DS, so you probably have a few of them already.

2nd question today.. Have some spare cash and got the retro urge! Does anyone know of a ntsc to pal snes adapter that has good compatibility? I'm going with the adapter until I get my snes modded, having problems finding someone to do it or a place to buy it. Chap at console passion seems disinterested

Buy a soldering iron, go to mmmonkey, have a crack at it yourself. Not that difficult iirc.

Lifting the pins from the two display chips is the trickiest part, if they break its end of line as Cidey would say.

You made it very uncomfortable in here last night and everyone was afraid to post in case you sexually harassed them.

Well it was either that or everyone was out having fun on annual Irish racial stereotype day while I sat home alone.

Not because I'm boring though, you have to understand. I have too much ginger in my beard. Would have had people harassing me for 'me pot o' gold' all night.

I too have a little bit of ginger in the beard but I reckon I look the sort who might hit you a smack if you start the leprechaun crap, so no problems there then!
I was at the Swords parade with my son and it was fun, then off to Chez Emily chocolate shop to get the wife some of the best chocolate in the free state.
And then home for some games later, a spot of Dragon Blaze and Empire of Steel, good times.

I'm spending almost the entire weekend filming hockey.

Ireland vs Korea on RTE shortly, biggest final in Irish hockey history. Shame hockey is an inherently sleep inducing sport.

You will have to re record the audio to get rid of the persistent snoring sound in the background, no games for you this weekend! Unless it's mutant league hockey!
Anyway, hockey, what is it? Some sort of hipster sport?

    No your thinking of Lacrosse.

Anyhow how much would one expect to be paying for a jp Saturn unboxed?
    Also a boxed one.

From what I can make out there standard models not the Skelton one or anything cool.

Btw this question isn't just aimed at you retro, I just quoted your post to point out a real hipster sport. They were playing it before the Native Americans.

Instead of arcade & retro beers, can we have arcade and retro botaoshi next? I'm serious. As far as hipster sports go, this is up there. (Note: if this ever becomes popular, I will hate it)
