Vincent Browne's Challenging God

Challenging God, presented by Vincent Browne, challenges the assumptions of religions and the power of religious beliefs and myths.

    http://www.tv3.ie/article.php?article_id=61865

Very ballsy programme to commission, even in this day and age where religious influence is at an all time low in Ireland. Knowing Vinnie Browne, I think this is going to be a Dawkin's type mockumentary that you'd typically see on Channel 4. :pac:

Well they just commissioned a Jersey Shore rip off, so the universe had to balance somehow!

am I blind or is there any indication as to when it will be aired?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Calibos

I can't wait for the complaints to the broadcast authority or whatever its called....
This is a disgrace, it shouldn't have been allowed, militant atheism, forced down our throats blah blah blah

It won't occur to the feeble minded that even in aerial land they have a choice of 3 or 4 other channels to watch.

He's a huge condescendingly arrogant twat, so it's likely he's an atheist. :pac:

I'd imagine that Richard Dawkins is more friendler than Vincent Browne

Anything would be better than the self indulgence of Gay Byrne and that rubbish show he had. Meaning of Life indeed.

I only watched one episode, the interview with Gabriel Byrne. I found that particular episode to be very interesting.

Surely "Xposé" proves the nonexistence of a loving God more than Vinny ever could?

I don't know, it's always fun to watch sheen have an actual drunken breakdown and punch a real glass mirror in the hotel room scene:)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but, does anyone know if this ever aired? I don't see it on the new TV3 schedule.

God pulled out of the interview at the last minute after Joan Burton explained the haranguing Vinny B does. :(

Was anyone else's first mental picture of this programme God giving a press conference with Browne shouting questions as him as he gets more and more flustered. :pac:

Only seen half an episode, actually last night strangely enough. Richard Branson, i thought it was quite good, usually can't stand gay byrne though.

I'm not so sure, that Lisa Cannon looks like she fell straight from heaven if you ask me!:D

A new six part series called Challenging God with Vincent Browne will go to air on Sunday 4th of August @ 11pm.

Challenging God presented by Vincent Browne will challenge the assumptions of religions and the power of religious beliefs and myths

Vinny mentioned this tonight, must have secured the contract for God to appear or like the regular show some backbencher from the God party will have to take the beating from Vincent.

Watched VB tonight and thought I misheard what he said (challenging god). Can't wait for it.

My folks love VB, so it'll be interesting to hear their thoughts on this, considering they're quite religious.

A travesty in what is still ostensibly a Python-worshipping country.

    Fare thee well, Mel Smith

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

Rowan Atkinson does a very good Mervyn Stockwood in the above clip.

Personally, I thought the Bishop was fabulous in the debate. The way he coordinated his dress and jewellery. Gorgeous.

Holy Flying Circus was well worth a watch. Not sure if/when it'll be on again, but may be available on DVD...

    "He is a revealing God"

Why didn't he reveal himself thousands of years earlier, at the dawn of human kind? To all peoples at the same time?

Condescending twit? Good to see the standard of debate is being upheld by the Moderator...
