What are you a disaster at?

For me, it's cooking. I have my few set dishes that I can make and make well (I make a great lasange!) but if I deviate for that set list of dishes it usually goes bad.

Today I tried to make Beef Pie. It's not that complicated but I couldn't get it right.

Firstly, I didn't brown off the beef pieces properly. They kind of stuck to the pan. But nothing too major.

Then the pastry I bought in the shop was the wrong pastry. I bought filo instead of short crust or puff. Filo is used for desserts I've been told. :o

So no pastry going over the beef combination. No bother, I'll get some in the shop tomorrow.

I taste the beef and its a little tough so I decide to stew the mixture in a pot to soften it. Only I forget about the pot on the cooker and it now tastes like ashtray. My dog is going to have a nice (slightly smoked) dinner tomorrow.

I've also been known to burn pasta! I just forget I put it on.

So what are you a disaster at?

I've other talents, just not cooking. It does mean I make a great sandwich! :pac:

Get a slow cooker, the ultimate way to cheat at cooking. Wake up the morning, lash in veg, meat and some stock and come home to a wicked meal.:D

I'm pretty **** at baking, i can cook quite well, but baking just doesn't seem to work out for me at all. I can make a bitching Christmas Cake but that's about it. Pastry and stuff....no ****ing idea how to get that to taste nice.

You can use filo pastry for savoury food too - it makes a great topping for a beef pie.

Burning the stew though, is not a good idea!

    Anything to do with GAA.

Was never cut out for it, or the people involved in it.

Dunno why, that's just the way it was.

On the other hand I was okay at Athlethics.

    More my thing.:)
