Start a program before logon

Hi all,

Looking for a piece of advice, I have a program that runs on XP machine that i need to keep running. Unfortunately the machine also as per policy needs to recieve updates and patches from Microsoft...

So unfortunately some patches have automatically restarts, which shuts down my program.

The computer restarts and sits at the logon screen till i log on.. during this time the program is not running..

Is there anyway of getting the program to start while sitting at the logon screen??

You will need to setup a user defined service. See this guide: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=304

Edit: remember when your service is created it will run as the SYSTEM account. If your program needs special permissions that your user account has you will need to change the service's properties in services.msc
