Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Test

The theory behind this test is that people can be classified into 16 different categories depending on different aspects of their personality. There are four categories with two options in each. These are as follows:

    1. Introversion (I) or Extraversion (E)
    2. Sensing (S) or Intuition (N)
    3. Thinking (T) or Feeling (F)
    4. Judgemental (J) or Perceiving (P)

The names above are a little bit misleading so the following description may be helpful:
Favorite world: Do you prefer to focus on the outer world or on your own inner world? This is called Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I).

Information: Do you prefer to focus on the basic information you take in or do you prefer to interpret and add meaning? This is called Sensing (S) or Intuition (N).

Decisions: When making decisions, do you prefer to first look at logic and consistency or first look at the people and special circumstances? This is called Thinking (T) or Feeling (F).

Structure: In dealing with the outside world, do you prefer to get things decided or do you prefer to stay open to new information and options? This is called Judging (J) or Perceiving (P).

There are many free on-line tests that you can take to see what type you are. THis one is pretty clear and can be done in less than 15 minutes.

Descriptions of the 16 resulting types are given here.

Once you know your type select it in the poll above. If you are tied in a particular category just go with one of them randomly (or whichever you think suits you better).

It should be interesting to see if the percentages for each type on boards tally with the real world (I suspect they will not)

I can't believe so many other people (4 already!) are INFJ. It's supposed to be REALLY RARE. I always thought this was one of the few areas in which I was special :(

On the other hand, it confirms what I thought about the AH crowd being a set of weirdos etc..

ESTP - I would say that's fairly accurate:

Flexible and tolerant, they take a pragmatic approach focused on immediate results. Theories and conceptual explanations bore them – they want to act energetically to solve the problem. Focus on the here-and-now, spontaneous, enjoy each moment that they can be active with others. Enjoy material comforts and style. Learn best through doing.

Did it before and was INTP, still am apparently.

I've looked into it a fair bit. It's not used clinically butiit isn't completely balderdash either.
An important caveat is that it's never been intended to pigeonhole people. The authors state that if you don't feel the test got you "right", go ahead and pick what you like, you know yourself better than 20 random questions do.

Apparently I can be two different one's as most of my scales are tied percentage wise.

I got ENFP - "Journalist". Uncanny sense of the motivations of others. Life is an exciting drama. 8.1% of total population.

    and

INFP - "Questor". High capacity for caring. Emotional face to the world. High sense of honor derived from internal values. 4.4% of total population.

Either that stat is BS or the test has been taken so many times that 100 or so people taking the test would only effect the average percentage down in the 3rd or 4th place of decimals.

Or that the tests just use extrapolated data from the original research and don't include an internal counter, they just spew out the data. The original work was done back in the 70s anyway afaik, so either could be true.

Nope, I'm a bundle of contradictons! Now worried I may have a split personality! I'm neutral on most of the choices.

Professionally I'm very structured and logical, Personally I'm a flaky mess.

Got estj and istp but no major leaning in any area...percentages very close in all areas.
