    Hi,
I'm trying to eat healthier and cut out as many carbs as I can... however I'm struggling with breakfast- when I usually have a slice of toast or 3 crackers with cheese spread. I don't like milk so I won't eat cereals. Any suggestions on what I could have ??
    Thanks :)

Eggs are your best bet. They're yummy and full of protein so they'll fill you up for a while and they have very little carbs in them.

I used to have a big bowl of muesli every morning for breakfast, thinking it was a healthy choice. i'd be very hungry mid morning though.

Now I have 2 hard boiled eggs and they keep me going to lunch. I've also cut down on the carbs a lot and I feel much better in general.

    Steak and eggs.

  • 2 slices of bacon and 2 poached eggs
3 eggs and 40g of cheese omellete with brocolli and peppers and anything else you feel like firing into it
2 poached eggs and a salmon fillet
Chicken breast wrapped in bacon cooked the night before, with some cheesey brocolli.

Get creative with omelletes imo, let eggs be your go to breakfast for certain though.

There's no rule in your body that says you cannot have steak and eggs for brekkie! And that combo is a whole lot healthier and miles better than 90% of Ireland would have for their brekkie.

Been making these little muffins using coconut flour, not as successfully as id like, but with cashew butter on it, it bloody well doesn't matter as it still tastes frickin lovely.

I've taken to sausages and scrambled eggs a few days a week. Some leftover bacon from the weekend this morning also :). It's much more filling than cereal or toast, I had cereal yesterday and had to eat my lunch by 11.

  • be careful that the sausages are >90% pork if you're low carbing, a lot of cheaper sausages have plenty of sneaky carbs in them.

Most morning I have chopped fruit, greek yoghurt & omega 3 seed mix on top.
    And a boiled egg.

Doesn't have to be either/or... porridge is good

    I usually have for brekkie....

Eggs, scrambled/poached/boiled or an omelette (eggs, garlic, onion, broccoli) or

Smoothie using a mixture of whatever fruit and veg I have in the house :) or

Natural yoghurt with fruit (strawberries, blueberries or the likes) with walnuts and some cinnamon and maybe a little honey

The more you experiment the more variety you'll come up with that works for you. :) Have a look at some Paleo websites and you will get some more nice recipes.

    Good luck with the change.

My brekkies for this week are:

Cottage cheese with blueberries and flaked almonds
Sml steak and 6 brazil nuts
Omelette made with two whole eggs and three egg whites, with spinach
Smoked salmon on gluten free rice cakes (on carb day)
Roast turkey breast and 12 cashew nuts
3 poached eggs, 2 grilled rashers
3 Venison sausages and 12 hazelnuts (you can get them in M&S)

You could have greek yogurt with berries or some apple slices with nut butters!

I'm having a rasher with either beans or scrambled egg with a bowl of porridge at work lately, had a pear on the spin in this morning. I'm 16 stone so eating tiny breakfasts doesn't suit me to be honest. I'm nice and satisfied till lunch with that though. Scambled egg isn't available everyday at work though, which is why I have the beans some mornings. I've stopped eating bread at breakfast time for the last few weeks.

If you don't drink milk you could try soy/almond or rice milk instead. How low carb are you talking? I'm a fan of oat bran/porridge in the mornings, only works out at less than 30g carbs for a portion and it really fills you up. You'd have the same amount of carbs in a serving of fruit and yogurt. However, if your whole carb allowance for the day is going to be around that figure then it's probably not a great option.
