I'm 28 and I have....28K to spend on a car. What I want

Speed: I will forgo comfort for this. might as well if I'm young.
Looks: Sport but not over the top
MPG: Could not care once its over 22mpg
Tax: Don't really care

I'm thinking of an M5. It could be a few years old as well. I'd rather not buy brand new.

Oddball suggestions welcome. I want this to be the defining car of my life.

The Cayman is a good choice. Will have a goo at carzone.

I think 28 is prime car owning time. I have the cash and little responsibility. No insurance issues either.

You need to think "Absolutely Mental" as opposed to mainstream. Buy a car that you will never ever have a chance to own or run again. You'll have plenty of time for M5s etc.

Get something really different and special, then you'll remember it.

Hi, all the cars listed above are lovely but I'm gonna throw a spanner into the work now and say if I was 28 and had that money to spend on a motor I'd buy a gaf, if you have a gaf buy another one and rent it out, think long term, when your in your 40th like me an old man you'll be gald you did it, speaking from experience. Yeah tell that to my mates who are stuck with 200K of debt, no equity, no life and no hope. Renting has put me into Maserati land my friend.

You've a chance to own a stupidly crazy car, and you will probably never get that opportunity again. Don't waste it by buying a wedding car, or a boring german saloon.

Get something completely bonkers! You'll have loads of time to try the whole big engined, boring saloon thing.

Get a TVR or something!

A quatroporte for a 28 year old though. Don't think so thats for an older man...... you need to be thinking gran tourismo or more likely 4200 if you want a maserati for your age and price bracket

Buy a lotus elise,

and spend the change on a mean track day set up i.e: wheels & track tires, suspension set up, oh and beef up the power a bit too.

An M5 isn't that special anymore. There's loads of them about, and most people don't know the difference between one and a 520d SE.

A once in a lifetime car is something that sould be very special, not something that looks like a German Rep-mobile.

I think a cayman s is a great choice. Relatively new, not boy racer style, reliable, quick, great drive, looks the part and will be worth something when finished with it too.

You will not get more than 18mpg consistently in an M5...trust me. Plus I think in your situation it is probably too much of a family wagon. If I were you I would go for
1 - RS4
2 - 335i
3 - Golf R32

Well if I had that money, I'd stick to my crappy €200 cars and use the money to keep them road worthy. Maybe a few extras to add too but thats just me
