Word caption number agreement error

    Hi Folks

I have noticed recently that when adding captions to things in word, like figures, the error checking nearly always puts a wiggly green grammar error line under the captions.

right clicking to see the error shows "Number agreement". I assume this is because the Label may be "Figure 14" then a caption of "The dog", so the numeracy of 14 and the dog, instead of 14 dogs, doesn't match up.

Surely MS would have seen this? Am I writing captions incorrectly?
I have tried putting in a full stop "Figure14. The dog" but this still still gives error because that induces an issue with the "Figure 14" part and its given a "Fragment(consider revising)" error!! Arrgghh!!

Am I doing something wrong or has MS just been a bit stupid again?
How do you write your captions?

    Thanks

Well I just added in a colon, like so

    "Figure 27: an apple"
