I think seven. Seven is a good number of spoons. It has alliteration and c'mon, who *wouldn't* want seven spoons.

    whats your favorite smell?

My favourite smell is not something they like mentioned round these parts >.>

Second favourite smell was the smell of my guitar/guitar case when i first bought it though
    :)

    do you like to boogie?

The rumours of my dancing skills have been greatly exaggerated. But yes, i have been known too "boo-gie". I have gotten down, on numerous occasions. Requires good choons though, if i hear some massive attack i have a tendancy to break out the groove :pac:

    whats your middle name?

    John

    what colour are your socks?

Black. All of my socks are black, this way i never worry about mismatching :pac:

    Favourite album?

Phwoar, now that's a question. I'd have a hard time picking a single favourite, it changes depending on mood and time etc. but the following are consistently up there..

The Wall, Dark Side, Animals - Pink Floyd
Ok Computer, The Bends - Radiohead
    Electric Ladyland - Hendrix
    Zeppelin IV - zeppelin
    Beautiful Freak - Eels
    Jeff Buckley - Grace
    Siamese Dream - Smashing Pumpkins

Sorry, that was a terribly vague answer :p

    reallyrose wrote: »

Hendrix. Dylan's version just doesn't have the same effect, it's too dreary, it feels like a review of some lyrics set to music. but for AATW, Jimi just reaches out, grabs you, screams in your face and makes you feel every note in that solo. It's an amazing track :)

    What kind of badger?

I saw a badger out here in bogland for the first time in years a few weeks back, running clumsily on the road, caught in our headlights. I think mine would be a regular Irish badger, they are such adorably uncoordinated little individuals. They're supposedly aggressive and territorials, but they just look like funny little balls of fluff wobbling on tiny legs!

Do you ever feel as if your spoon is too big?

Dont get fat and sassy with me, Rose!!

Are you and Randy the same person?

    yes.

And we are both 27 year old brazilian swim-wear models.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

    A kid again :|

Nah, iunno. Some job where i can work 3 days a week and afford rent, food and a few pints every now and then, and leave with me lots of free time. Possibly contract programing work from home

Ever fancied a Noc? (apart from Randy)

Ha, does anyone answer that question truthfully :pac:

Well, we all know about me and Randy.

    Hey Randy ;)

    Describe your ideal sammich!

    Sandwich. Saaaaaaandwich. Sand witch.

Roast beef with gravy and mayonnaise :)

It's sadly not as exciting as many of the names around here!

Had to get an email account when i was 11, so i could register on online gaming sites and pwn n00bz. Couldn't think of any names that weren't taken, and eventually my brother just came up with the least likely yet memorable name he could think of. Badgerwithaspoon. I shortened it for forums and other places with small char limits :)

Just realized i haven't actually hit the 1 char minimum length.

At first it was for advice on buying guitar amplifiers! Instruments forum was somewhat helpful in that respect.

Found the nocturnal forum at 3am one summer night, about 4 (4?) years ago. The forum had only been up about 3/4 weeks at that point. Spent most of that summer up until dawn anyway, so i seemed to fit in quite nicely :)

Do you really work in a building in Trinity? Because I overheard people looking for directions to that building (O'Reilly?) and no-one was able to help them. Therefore, I think you made it up and kept telling people about it until some believed it exists and now you laugh at them and rub your hands in glee at their confusion and lost-ness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,365 ✭✭✭spoonbadger

    I have not done this.

I will, however, now do this :D

But yes! It does exist, it's the massive building directly opposite yours ya silly fecker :P

What do you think of this whole lark of taking a bestselling novel/series and turning it into a movie? Are there any of these movies that you think are better than the novels?

If you could earn a living working 3 days a week in a morally ambiguous job for a lot of money or working 5 days a week for a job that would somehow make a difference/help people but for very little money which job would you choose?

Pitted prunes are a strong laxative, i think this might work in their favour.

    ...

Do you steal any items from your place of work?

I've nicked lots of computer gear from skips in trinity, but that stuff was in a bin destined for the dump anyway. i feel no immorality over this

Is global warming a complete scam?

Nothing is ever a complete anything. I'm sure there are many merits to the global warming theory, no doubt over or under exaggerated depending on which side of the fence you lie in the debate.

what countries have you travelled to?

    Austria, tunisia, switzerland, scotland
what country that you haven't been to would you most like to visit?

    New Zealand :)

Sadly incredibly cost-prohibitive, but i'm thinking about taking a year to work, save some cash and head over for a few months. It sounds like an amazing country!

    A silver Mt. Zion
    Jimi Hendrix
    Pink floyd
    Radiohead
    Led Zeppelin
To name 5, although there's sooooo many others i would rate just as highly as those. not enough time/space!

Name a song you wish you'd written?

    Aaaaaah, so many!
    Comfortably numb - Pink Floyd
God Bless Our Dead Marines - A Silver Mt. Zion

both of these spring to mind

Monopoly or The Game of Life?

Monopoly and all its associated rage and malice :pac:

    Favourite childhood toy/game?

    Lego :)

Are you ferocious like a badger?

I'm about as ferocious as a bag of crisps dear.

What's your favourite type of dinosaur?

Brontasaur. C'mon, how cool would it be to look down at all the other dinosaurs, running around frantically, while you plod along lazily eating leaves :D

What do you think of this whole lark of taking a bestselling novel/series and turning it into a movie? Are there any of these movies that you think are better than the novels?

I hate it, in general. Mass media has a wonderful way of exploiting every ounce of creativity it can get its hands on, to squeeze out the last few cents. If the movie justifies itself, then grand. But if its just another bank account for the franchise then it's missing the point entirely.

If you could earn a living working 3 days a week in a morally ambiguous job for a lot of money or working 5 days a week for a job that would somehow make a difference/help people but for very little money which job would you choose?

    5 days a week, definitely.

Catch 22 is quite amazing! It's been years since i read it, tempted to read through it again now. Yossarian, obviously, but Milo after him. Seemingly so blissfully unaware :D

Loved the scene where they're going through the small town where Milo is the mayor, as he explains how the whole enterprise works. Haven't seen the movie, would like to though!

    Have you any heroes?

Che Guevara comes to mind. Ever since reading The Motorcyle Diaries (oh! should've thought to put that on my favorite books list actually)

Also, Hendrix, Rachmaninoff and Daniel Johnston.

    Have you any phobias?

Yes, anything organizational and important. I cant fill out forms, or especially use locks/alarms/doors in stressful times without getting quite nervous and panicky

Also, somewhat disproportional fear of mental illness

If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?

    Almost famous :)

Love that film so very much

    Do you like horror movies?

Yes, but not silly horror movies. Silence of the Lambs is en excellent example of my kinda horror film. It's not just instant gratification with people getting hacked to bits without explanation, or people running through woods to try scare the **** out of you. It has a storyline about events which when portrayed scare the **** out of you! Story comes first, a film shouldn't set out to be scary, as then it either seems unconvincing or overdone.

If the answer to the above is yes,who is the ultimate horror movie villain?

    Unsurprisingly, Hannibal Lector :)

    Do you watch anime ever?
If so, do the constant flashbacks and close ups of people being surprised bother you?

Rarely, tbh. The whole cheesy, over done aspect doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. The flashbacks, close-ups and other silly anime cliches usually just irritate me too much to actually enjoy most anime.

That said, there's some exceptions. Some of the studio Ghibli stuff for example. And in particular "5cm Per Second". If you haven't watched it yet, do . Amazing.

    What is your favorite cheese?

Was thinking about this last night over some cashel blue ^_^

Roquefort is pretty good, likewise good stilton. Some nice chevre, brie or camembert too. Hard to pick a favorite, depends on mood too much. Generally if it's blue, stink or runny i'll eat it :pac:

Is it hard to find organic chicken when eating out?

I just normally dont order it, cant be assed quizzing the waiters on their poultry ethics and probably still couldn't be certain that its as organic as suggested. Doesn't matter though, it has given me a reason to try other stuff on the menu that i wouldn't have previously! I used to always order chicken out of convenience, which becomes a rather boring unadventurous habit :)
Did I live up to your expectations upon meeting me?

In a way, yes. I dont think you were what i expected from reading your posts, but having met you, i could picture where your posts were coming from!

Pretty sure i've been the same with nearly ever Noc i've met. Usually not quite what i expect them to be like in real life, but having met them i see the personality behind the posts and it all makes more sense.

    Knife, axe or crossbow?

Knife is a classic. Also, knives look distinctly prettier than axes or crossbows

    Werewolves or vampires?

Vampires, although as goes without saying, not ****en sparkly ****ers >.<

What is your earliest nerd memory?

Playing marathon on an old school Macintosh when i was 6/7 :o

    {

Signature dish, probably lentils in all their forms. I make a meeeaaaaan lentil shepherds pie. Likewise, lentil and veg stir fry.

I have been known to drink the occasional guinness (>.>), even if it does seem to be giving me ****ing wicked hangovers of late >.<

Also, white russians and gin/tonics (especially with bombay sapphire).

And Porterhouse BrainBleasta ^_^ that stuff's ****en meeeaaaan

    Top 3 pet peeves?

Ignorance and greed are the first two that come to mind. Cant deal with ignorant people, cant stand greedy people (in all their forms, financial, academic etc. etc.)

    3rd is the general combination of all my OCDish little hates, chief among them being pedestrians who walk slow. THE FOOTPATHS ARE FOR THE LIVING ;_;

Have you got or will you ever get a tattoo?

Have never, possibly will never but iunno. If i did it'd have to be something really tasteful, the kind of tattoo i'd be happy to have regardless of what age i am.

Possibly Daniel Johnston lyrics: "It's new to me, but just the same, the earth is an old canvas painted over many times" done tastefully

If I told you that you had a beautiful body would you take off your pants and dance for me?

If i took my pants off, it would be impossible to stuff fivers in my belt

Did you ever finish that cigar?

Right down to the butt, mother****er :pac:

He was good too. Have been tempted to pick up a couple next time i come into some spare mulah

Do you think one day I will over do the slagging of Boom being a child and she will stuff play-doh up my nose and suffocate me dead?

Well she wont suffocate you alive, kiddo :pac:

If you rose up as El Presidente of your own sovereign nation what would you call it and what would the flag be?

$DROP_TABLE$land. The flag would be me and Jesus highfiving while punching a bear.

Oh, I'm sure if you took your pants off, Mags would find somewhere to stuff his fiver ... >_>

If you're knitting her a jumper, I want one too. ? (I added a question mark, so it's a question now)

What is your favorite programming language?

Have you ever noticed that you have a tongue in your mouth?

Also, did you know that you are breathing right now? Iiiin and out.

Also, do you have an itch on your shoulder?

    Trololololol?

How do you feel about agressiveness? Or extreme baldiness?
Ever fart at work? (or college)
Would you blame someone else for your fart?
Would you like to get a massage from someone of the same sex as yourself?

Pretty good! My linguistirs and spelling lerturer says i have almost all the letters down! :pac:

    :P

Oh, I'm sure if you took your pants off, Mags would find somewhere to stuff his fiver ... >_>

Oh no, randy, c'mon dont leave!

You can stuff a fiver in there too! Dont be shy.

    I think I should probably go now .... >_>

I sadly do not, although having a badger as a pet would be amazing, not to mention the possibilities for a sitcom. That said, i cant imagine they are the most domestically friendly animals and i dont think i'd have the heart to try keep one in captivity

    Do you shuffle everyday?

    Everyday i'm shuf-a-lin'!!!

....Except on weekends and bank holidays.

You can contact my shuffle office anytime from 9.30am to 5pm

Can I mention how I love your laugh? :D

Yes. Yes you may. The spoon abides

But only if you harbour no ill feelings for me completely forgetting who you were, in a rather drunken manner at the last beers :o

Cuppa tea or Pint of guinness??

Well right now, cup of tea as i'm in the midst of a temporary Never_Drinnking_Again crisis >.< god, the pain...

But in general, i'd always go for the pint :) I dislike this view in our society that having a pint is antisocial degeneracy. A wee guinness with lunch or after a hard day is lovely ^_^

    Scumbags or D4heads and why??

Bah, hate both, so very much. Would rather spend as little time as possible with either.

Couldn't really choose, kinda depends what kinda skang/D4 they are. Much as i hate D4s, i'd probably take them over aggressive scumbags. If scumbags in question were benevolent, then i'd probably choose them.

Can you knit me a jumper?? :)

Well i cant knit but I can assemble you some kind of garment from fabric, yes. I'm not promising it'll be functional, or appear to be in anyway like a jumper or any other item of clothing. But it will contain fabric and can be worn (in some sense) on your person :pac:

Probably for the best if i can't knit. Otherwise you'd get a jumper covered in knitted swear words and ascii dicks
    reallyrose wrote: »

Nnnnngh, i guessss. But yours will have extra swear words and ascii dicks. Possibly with arrows pointing from said swear words towards your head, so as not to leave any ambiguity of meaning.

What is your favorite programming language?

Oh! Ok, this is interesting!! :D

I haven't gotten enough of a chance to get into a lot of languages in serious depth. But i do like C++ which alot of people find weird. It's nasty and hackish in places, but it doesn't hide important aspects like pointers and typing behind silly wrappers. I dont like programming languages that try to provide too many shortcuts for the programmer, especially if they slow down run-time or compilation speed. Also, i like to know exactly what i'm doing with each line, because when something goes wrong and **** hits the fan, to comforting to see where each line corresponds to machine code.

Erlang is pretty pimp too, although i've had little chance to play with it

Have you ever noticed that you have a tongue in your mouth?

Also, did you know that you are breathing right now? Iiiin and out.

Also, do you have an itch on your shoulder?

Evil. Was playing incredibly hungover chess this morning with a friend, and he mentioned both the tongue and breathing thing to try and distract and irritate irritable hungover Kieran. Hungover Kieran was not impressed in his dazed and confused state.

    And i do in fact have an itch on my shoulder, ****en insect bite, I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY ROSE ;_;

    Trololololol?

These are both things which we simply cannot tolerate in society

Ever fart at work? (or college)

    Frequently!

Would you blame someone else for your fart?

If i could get away with it, yes :pac:

Would you like to get a massage from someone of the same sex as yourself?

No, oddly enough such things actually creep me out no end :o
You load 15 tonnes and what do you get?

Another day older and deeper in debt.

Would you agree that The Secret of Monkey Island and it's follow up, LeChuck's Revenge are two if the greatest games ever created?

I shall get every so much abuse for this, but...

I have never played any of the Monkey Island games :|

If you don't agree, what's it like being Satan's toenail?

Is it ok if we keep asking questions so Randy can never lock this thread?

Is that a reference? I dont get references :(

    "Yes"? :(:( ;_;

Sure! Although i'm sure in a number of years the questions will become somewhat mundane.

"What is your opinion on the number 7" - "Well. It's one bigger than 6"

    "....and one smaller than 8"
