Does anyone know if the replacement tubes going on sale in Lidl the morrow, are ok quality?
And would they fit my tyre spec i.e. 18/28 622/630 15A (or so it says on the tube)
They are doing them in sizes 26" & 28"

Going to chance the 28" tubes, 28" = 711mm so should be ok for 700C rim, if not will return. Not familiar with your size but 26" being 661mm could be worth a try, compare it to your original tube.

German shops often refer to 700C as 28". So I'd bet those 28" tubes are actually 622mm/700C and fine for you guys.

Just make sure the valve is long enough for your wheel type, they look very short in the pic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,308 ✭✭✭quozl

They had some dunlop valve tubes the last time. IIRC the picture has both dunlop and presta valves in it, so double check the valve type unless your rim and your pump can handle either.

Picked up a few bits earlier in lidl all the clothing is large fitting , I'm 100kg and broad shouldered normally an xl but large is fine for me. Socks and glasses for 3.99 are exceptionally good value.

Did same today - not the socks/glasses but say gillets Medium is tad too big for me. I'm 6'4" @ ~90kg.. but they said no problem to return if not fitting well.

Went in to get the Gillet this morning, plenty in stock but smallest size was a medium, normally this would be fine but when i opened it up to try it in the store it was bloody massive, baggy and way too long. Pity. The search for a good value gillet continues

Got them myself. Two side bags in one part (like a saddle bag on horses) and a third removable bag that zips onto the middle section.

Attaches to pannier with velco straps.

For €20 they seem fine for commuting.

Edit : the space in the side pockets isn't that much really and the velco straps as a pain in the arse.

Lidl in Fermoy, only had Shrader valve tubes and no Presta.
Did get a couple of pairs of mits. Look fine for training and cheap as chips....

Got one of these a couple of weeks ago, bargain in my opinion. Only size medium and small left though.

I just wondered if all the Presta tubes had sold out before I got there?
All the bike cleaning stuff and tyre pumps were all gone....

Shipping is 15sterling to Ireland, even if you use Parcel Motel (3.5 euro), it doesn't work out cheaper.

Thanks for that, managed to pick up the last set on town in Galway. Only thing is, as it was the last set, it was out if its wrapping.

So I'm not sure should there have been a rain cover with it? Couldn't see one, but in the pics there is one with it.

    Did you get one?

EDIT: Found it, it's hidden away in a small pocket I missed.

In TK Maxx (None left in blanch though but they might get more in)

Am-Tech S1828 LED Bicycle Light Set For 3.99e

    https://www.amtechtools.com/ProductDetails?prodref=S1828&description=l0345

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Am-Tech-S1828-LED-Bicycle-Light/dp/B00HF92HP0

Adorable little lights, though there are not that small. Very easily attached or removed, handy for swapping between bikes. Very bright too. No idea about battery life etc.

In Blanch they also had a good few black and white of the following Polaris jersey. 26e or so. "Normal fit" as in medium is a medium, if you're medium.

    http://www.polaris-apparel.co.uk/product/etape-jersey

I sell the amtech lights and tried them out last night. Pretty handy. Only down side is that they throw a little light upwards at the front (but plenty of lights do this).
Anyway I can do em at €5 delivered if anyone wants to pm me.

Ps got the Altura Varium in med. I'm 6'1" slim and it's a neat but good fit. Thanks to OP.
