Absolute rubbish - always has been but at least that tit Lovejoy is no longer on it!

Having said that I was flicking round the sports channels about 20 mins ago and Helen Chamberlain is looking well today!

It's like football artefacts from the Britpop/Euro 96 era: it's outstayed its welcome by about ten years and should be humanely put down.

    Good line up today.
Jeez the inbetweeners lads arent half as funny in "real life".

On topic, the show was out of date about six seasons ago.
Same old staged jokes to include the unfunny crew.

FHM is gone crap too, so maybe I'm just getting old!!! :D

Never liked the show at all, it's funny how lads that watch it think Helen is a ride but in reality she's rough as nails.

Helen is fine looking woman but its time for fresh blood,Georgie Thompson or Charlotte Jackson would be interesting replacments, let the two of them present the show :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,633 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

I have never liked this show.

Too much of the 'Who are ya' English chav culture for me.

Also, everyone on it thinks that they're very funny when the opposite for me is true.

too matey matey, "friends of the show" boll*x, Its become a parody of itself. Who are ya chants, forced banter, Tubes, "unbelievable tekkers"

Imagine that - on an English TV show aimed at English supporters of English football.

Exactly, and due to my superior intellect I don't watch it!;)

Anyhow, I don't think they represent the average English fan.

Show went **** after Loveday left

It was great fun when Lovejoy, Fenners etc were on it. Part of the Saturday footie routine.

Havent watched it too much since he left but when I did, it wasn't a patch on the original.

I don't get the Lovejoy hate. I think he's a natural TV presenter and funny too.

Anyway he's gone on to better things. Something for the weekend rocks. :pac:

The idea is still correct - a three hour lighthearted sports show every Saturday morning. The execution of this idea has become fairly horrible though. I think they need new presenters ASAP anyway.

Theres nothing else on between 10-12 on a saturday morning so it will continue to recieve my viewership.

Dated format at this stage. When Lovejoy left and Goldstein replaced him I thought he was bad, but Max makes Goldstein look like David Frost.

Max is just so lame. You want a guy that most the male viewers think is a sound guy and could have a laugh with down the pub.

Soccerette... bunch of tarts on it each week who know nothing about football, looking to use their apperance as a stepping stone to becoming Page 3 girls, or those women on Facebook with 10,000 friends who footballers send pics of their dicks to and arrange to meet up with when they fancy a shag with someone who isn't their wife.

As for not being able to say words like "crap" on the show... ridiculous. Love when some drunk muso is on it and drops the F bomb. The look on the presenters' faces is priceless.

Without a proper male presenter Helen just comes across as annoying for some reason. Georgie Thompson, who was mentioned earlier is a good shout. She's shown on League of their Own that she's got a wicked sense of humour and doesn't add in useless stats to show how much she knows about football (unlike Helen). Also doesn't take herself too seriously.

Actually any of the usuals on League of Their Own would make good presenters of Soccer AM imo.

As annoying as Lovejoy was he bailed at the right time.

The more screen time the likes of Rocket and Tubes get the worse it becomes. And who keeps giving that Trev guy air time? He's terrible!
Definite revamp needed, you'll occasionally get the gem of a guest but with the same dross it uses at the minute it's terrible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,573 ✭✭✭✭yabadabado

show is gone to **** the last few years.not the same without Lovejoy,Fenners and Sheephead.Rockets and tubes are woeful. It needs 2 new presenters and a overhaul of the current format.

Anyone watching it today,an ex band member of Blur talking about different types of cheese, must be running out of guests to bring on at this stage

Shamrock Rovers doing the crossbar challenge tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

Saturday Kitchen is better viewing on a Saturday morning, and thats saying something. Its died a death at this stage. It was brilliant in its day, say want you want about Lovejoy but he made the show worth watching, the stuff with Fenners and Sheephead was actually very funny. Used to enjoy the Colonel and Ginger and Fenners characters were always good for a laugh. His impression of Jim McDonald springs to mind. But its run its course now, it should be allowed to pass on.

I think James Richardson would be a good shout to host Soccer AM. I don't like the current format, bar the last half an hour.

    Woop for Rovers :)

thats a pretty good shout, you are quite right though they need to change the format.

Its a show that appeals to the lowest common denominator of football fan, Richardson is a little more "niche".

The Monday night football show Setanta used to run was excellent I thought, amazed nobody has signed him up.

Really has gone to the dogs. Frank Skinner would be good on a sort of revamped version
