    HI All

I have just started back training after a 2 year or so break. In the past I did a bit of power lifting but now want to concentrate a bit more on cardio.

I started back in the gym 2 weeks ago and have noticed that after training I sweat a lot more that normal, all I have to do is walk into a warm room and I start to sweat.... Is this normal ?

That's just your body stressing out cos it misses PL. Happens me all the time :D

I'd guess it's some hyper-sensitivity towards thermo-regulation which develops thru exercise tho, and will probably settle down once your body gets ued to training again (but that's based off absolutely notthing!!!)

    Hey

The reason you sweat is your metabolism is raised by the exercise for about 2 hours.

It is something similar to what happens when you eat spicy food.

The good side is it makes it easier for you to absorb food post exercise.

Can I get some more info where I can do further reading on this please?

hey I learned this as part of the personal training course I studied so the information I have on it is a hard copy.

I would ask how much do you know about your metabolism? Do you know about your BMR?

I've an exceedingly high level view of it, that's why I was hoping to find some additional info on it cos if it's true it'd be quite interesting.

    It's normal mate.

One way to cool off is a long cold shower if bearable or a pool if available for a few minutes.

Once or twice a week after a session I'd use the steam room and jacuzzi - I cottoned on the pool was great for cooling down in to the point where I stayed in too long doing bugger all and had to go back into the steam room to warm back up!:D

    As for BMR - 1m10 - 2m10:

    http://www.total-fitness-personal-trainer.com/Basal-Metabolic-Rate.html

    http://www.diet-i.com/weight_loss/metabolism.htm

Hi these are two websites that I found quick enough. I have not looked at them in detail bu they confirm what I said.

That doesn't really confirm wat you are said.

You said he sweats because his metabolic rate is raised, but then you just posted links to how metabolis rate is increased. I don't see where your theory of sweating is addressed.
It's rather obvious that excercise increases metabolic rate, so i'm not sure why you posted that. The article actual refers to BMR, and while excerise does have an effect there, its pretty small.
