So whatever happened with Ray D'Arcy leaving Ireland?

I know I'm a bit behind in this, but I can't find what excuse did Ray D'Arcy give not to leave Ireland?

I don't have a problem with such a statement, but I have a very big problem when a person who has said such a thing refuses to do it afterwards.

I've lost all respect I ever had for Ray D'Arcy (which to be fair, wasn't very much, he's hardly what you'd call a critical or deep thinker).

Did he give any justification for not leaving Ireland? He could at least have the dignity to go away for a couple of weeks, did he even do that? I would respect him if he did that (errr... I mean just after the election, not his annual foreign holidays).

The expression "I'll eat my hat" could be seen as more of an idiom, but I think I would still ask the person for clarification as to what they meant by that.

OP surely the title of your thread should be "Ray D'Arcy is still in Ireland -Why ?"

I think it's completely fine the way it is Mike_1972... "Ray D'Arcy leaving Ireland" is a description of an action. It's like "whatever happened to having fun". Maybe it should be "to" then, but I think it's acceptable to use "with" there.

    Ah I like Ray.

I know his show isn't as good as it used to be and he's gone a bit rant-tastic as he gets older, but overall he's a nice guy.

Met him a few times and thought he was nice anyway. In all fairness, did anyone honestly think he was going to leave the country?

I don't think there's anyone around here people like anyway. Ray's not the worst.

No I haven't, not without exceptionally good and unforeseen reasons. If I were going to say something like that at all, I would stick to it.

Well if he actually had the balls to make good on his statement (which there is a strong case for him being forced to do TBH) then he would be an asylum seeker of sorts (even if if wasnt actually necessary to go through the formal asylum process in whatever country he chose to settle in).

So for those of us who don't scrutinise everything that Ray D'Arcy says, what statement did he make that's upsetting the OP so much?

After spouting on the pre-election Fianna Fail Party Political Broadcast that is the Late Late Show that he wouuld leave if EK was made Taoisech. he should have have had the integrity to do so.

Perhaps he was stopped at immigration to every other country due to lack of talent, or else he was another political hack caught out.

Maybe he should run for President.

lucky chancer who would have a hospital radio show and dj at cheap weddings in any other country on earth. "Nice" guy as in he is a self absorbed opinionated cnut who hides it well. Well worth his money, as in overpaid record spinner with a dull line of patter and an overattachment to wearing womens clothes, jogging, cycling and being in touch with his inner fag. Apart from that, he's a grate guy. well he grates on me anyway.

Considering you made this statement only a few days ago I dont think you're in any position to criticise Ray D'Arcy.

what excuse did the Newbridge spinner give anyway? I heard him giving the whole "if he's elected, I'm leaving" shy1e, but I never heard why he didn't book Omans to move his gear to Coventry. Anyone actually hear his "get off the hook" speech??

Anytime I listen to his show (and that's not often - usually because I'm trying to find Nova), he just sounds more and more like he's auditioning to be the next Liveline presenter.

I'm not anyone's "Mum"- and if I ever have kids they'll be getting a firm kick in the hole if any of them ever refer to me as "Mum".

Aw Christ, don't tell me Joe is running for President as well.:eek::eek:

So many talents in such a small country.

    Are Duffy, D'Arcy & Byrne the new Yeats, Synge & O'Casey :eek::eek:

    Maybe he's Enda Kenny.

Or maybe Gay Byrne who, in the past, has had access to Fianna Fails dossier of destruction.

That video made me so mad. And it shouldn't have, because we all know what nobs they are anyway, and who cares if they can do press ups. But there literally wasn't one f*ckin pressup there!! Not One! Thrusting your crotch into the ground isn't a fupping press up

Anyway, we were talkin about Gaybo and Ray D'Arcy at work. It seems that presenting your own show for any considerable length of time will, for the most part, bestow unto you an unbearable level of smugness and a patronising personality that earns you your derision

Was listening to the Ray Foley show the week after the election just last February.

    Was very funny stuff.

Ray D'Arcy was coincidentally(?) on holidays that week and they were speculating where he was, pretending he had emigrated.

"Could be workin in Kitty O'Shea's Pub in Sydney?...On the Building Sites in London?... Handing out flyers for nightclubs in the Costa Del Sol?...text in if you know where Ray is"

    :pac:

In fairness, the normal way for women to do press ups is on their knees so they were making life difficult for themselves. Ray D'Arcy on the other hand, that was pathetic.

know nothing about lady press ups tbh, but yeah Ray was pathetic, and he enjoys telling everyone how he used to be a back at rugby...

I had a second look and realised he did quite a lot, so in case anyone thinks I'm saying 80+ press ups is pathetic, I'm not, it's very impressive but Ray D'Arcy didn't do one there.
