I saw a 320GB PS3/Black Ops bundle for €309.99 in HMV yesterday (only 1 controller) You can get the same on Amazon for £249.98 (about €288 with free delivery) However, there is a rumoured price cut coming next week if you can hold off http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/06/25/rumor-ps3-price-cut-coming-in-august.aspx

The Cheapest I've seen is €350 for 320g Playstation 3 in Argos, but you can get the Playstation Move with it. Gamestop sell second hand controllers that they have guarantees on, so that's a good cheaper alternative to buying new more expensive controllers.

Seen a version in currys sligo on friday for 279 or 289, cannot remember hd size. What are these rumours of a ps price reduction in next week or two ?.

Amazon may have leaked the PS3 price cut.

320GB PS3 down to £215.20. Its RRP is 291.05. You save £75.85 or 26 per cent.
160GB PS3 down to £192.00. Its RRP is £255.30.You save £63.30 or 25 per cent.

They announced the price drop about 15 minutes ago.
It's down to €249.99 "effective immediately".

I bet if I went to lets say, xtravision right now I wouldn't be able to buy it for that price though. Might take a few days for retailers to actually drop the price.

Gamestop are bundling their PS3s with inFamous 2, which is probably what I'll go for.

€250 for the 160GB now. Gamestop have them second hand for €200 AFAIK. Is it worth the extra €50 for a brand new one?

...or will the price of a second hand 1 go down now too?

The price of the second hand will go down, it should go down at the same time but as that will mean their profit will go down i think they'll keep it up a while longer.

The price they pay for PS3s will have gone down the moment Sony made an announcement.

Now that the price drop has come along for the PS3 What will the cost be for refurbed machines when your PS3 dies.
I was quoted the other day 160 euro to fix my YLOD PS3 by Sony. This was before the price drop

Yes its the 320 package all for 255 when you include the vouchers :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 tomcc

Hmmm. I was looking on amazon.co.uk for deals and spotted these 2.
    320GB Infamous2 deal here

    320GB LBP2 deal here

    £215 each

They both seem like great deals but then I saw this on amazon.com for $299

Much better value for the one on amazon.com . Is this bundle exclusive to amazon.com/USA???

they dont let you use the vouchers there and then there for your next purchase and its only one €10 voucher for spending over a €100 not €10 for every €100 you spend

320gb bundle with uncharted double pack, resistance double pack and ratchet and clank double pack for £270 on hmv.com here (Scroll down the page a bit)

Anyone ever order anything from hmv.com????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

I don't think they deliver electronics to Ireland.

In the market for one since the brother came home from Australia and wants his PS3 back.

It's after going up in price on amazon surprisingly. €266 with Virtua fighter 4

Thinking of going to HMV and getting the COD deal and trading it in. How much is it now?

Thanks Flynner but I just went and bought the HMV deal. Currently putting my data from the brothers ps3 on it

It seems you can get a 160 gig PS3 delivered from Amazon UK for around 185 pounds, standard delivery.

Also, this is the newest revision of PS3 slim (August 2011), which is supposedly even lighter, eats less electricity and has the new, lower price of course.

The cheapest PS3 in Eire I could find is currently in Argos.ie, 160 gig (last year revision of PS3 slim) for around 230 Euro.

I am tempted to buy PS3 from UK along with a tv set and a couple of other things, but I am a bit worried how guarantee would work along with replacement etc.

On a PS3 + 26 inch led tv I am looking at savings of around 100 Euro (in comparison to Irish suppliers), just wondering if it's a real save or I might be in trouble, in case something goes wrong with the equipment.

I have just ordered 26 inch tv and 160 gb ps3 in Amazon.co.uk, I can confirm they deliver electronics to Eire :)

By the way, Amazon has cut the price of PS3 even further, to 169 pounds!!!

it's the launch 60GB model - it's not for sale anymore so unless you get really lucky and find a second hand one your out of luck...
people who have a 60GB model will rarely trade them in because the newer models don't have the support for PS2 games...

THe deal here seems to be good:

    €199 fpr 160gb slim model

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,024 ✭✭✭gar32

Should I buy here or wait until I am in Germany? I have seen €199 160gb Ps3 in HMV. I am moving to germany soon and only found PS3 for €250 there. Should I get it there so if any thing goes wrong I can get it fixed easier then jumping on a flight? Any one know if price will go back up for Christmas?

    Thanks

Thanks bud, sounds ok but was hoping to get one for a little less without the games.

Is the 320 necessary, i take it the only difference is space. Has anyone here needed more than the 160

I have a 500GB in mine and i think i'm at 100-110GB, but i've a lot of games installed from Plus.

HDD are cheap and you'll probably not need that much and by the time you do you can put a bigger one in.

You do. Pointles playing the PS3 without a HDMI cable, imo.
Pick one up for about €5.

Any deals around for a ps3 and a Sony laptop?? Would I save money buying both together or what do Ye think?

You would have to see in a Sony center probably, any similar deals would usually be a TV + PS3.

Stupid question, how can you tell the difference? Is it obvious from the packaging! Also is there any way to play PS2 games on this edition?

none of the PS3's are backward compatible except the original ps3's which had hardware support not found in later models
they did it because they are making too much money converting old games to HD and flogging them again

And the genius part of their plan was waiting years after removing BC to fleece us with HD, but it does mean that the ps3 won't get BC back unless the ps2 really does die and they can charge for it with a software update.

Don't think there's any deal as good as that in store...they have the 160gb with FIFA 12 and Ferrari challenge for E249 but they wouldn't price match HMVs E219..

Hi everyone, sorry for another topic, but
I had to sell my PS3 last week to pay my rent. I've paid it now, and I 'm looking for a new one. I could get one on adverts, but I've decided to go for a nice new one. Anyone know any good deals, aside the 219e for it and FIFA 12 in HMV? Thanks :D

Gamestop is your only man for second hand, bring in all your unwated dvds, cds, old games etc managed to get €145 store credit with my old crap and used this off a new ps3,they had 2 80gb fat models in blanchardstown for €189 but personally I'd try and go for the newer slim model as these don't seem to be as bad as the older models for causing problems.

    HMV had 160GB for €199.

A used console won't have much of a warranty and your consumer rights won't be as protective.

This is up to €229, bundled with FIFA 12. The xtravision deal for €249 including Fifa 12, extra controller, hdmi cable, €20 vouchers and a football is looking a better deal.

Thanks a million for the answers really appreciate it. Never thought of XtraVision will have a look at their deals. Cheers guys

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 164 ✭✭eamo22

seen deal in game 299 for 320gb console, fifa 12 and choice of two other games out of four. little big planet 2, gran turismo 5, killzone 3 and black ops

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 584 ✭✭✭et101

Thanks a million for the help. There seems to be some pretty good deals out there at the min and you're all probably right that a new console would be the best way to go ok. Really strapped for cash and thought the secondhand would be better value but it's probably false economy really. Keep posting the deals though. Cheers

Does anyone rekon the price might drop after xmas? My xbox is in a bad way and if it costs too much to fix I might chance fixing it myself and getting a PS3.. How much are the games generally for the PS3?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 269 ✭✭johndoe77ie

Are the HMV consoles the latest generation of PS3??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,204 ✭✭✭Kenny_D

They're the newer slimmer ones and I don't reckon there'll be much of a price drop if any after xmas as they've only just dropped in price
