Anyone catch the promo featuring RTE's autumn schedule?

The master chef piece if it is the Irish one looks really like the set of MC:AU, doubt it will be aired ever weeknight like it is in AU though :(

Does anyone actually know what format it will take? Once a week would be a big let down. I really do hope they copy some of the OZ format and less of the UK ones I've seen.

It'll be on twice a week (Tuesdays & Thursdays)

I really hope they stay away from the OZ format, there is only so much corniness and phoniness one person can take.

Agree there but I did like how it was on everyday and how the challenges were built around the week.

As for conriness and phoneyness I think us Irish are plenty able to dish out our own unique brand of cringe when called upon :D

It was the 'corniness' that made it so likeable.
    Likeable contestants, likeable judges.

If you watched Masterchef USA, they go the other way - some contestants who are total arrogant assholes (yeah I know a lot of it is in the editing), and Joe Bastianich and Gordon Ramsey can be complete pricks when judging.

I hope MCIRL strikes a balance between the two.

The promo for it looks quite good... I'd say it could be quite good!

A lot of it comes down to production quality, if it's done on a shoestring budget it will look bad in comparison with series from other countries.

They all look like they are about to have a stroke.

Like that other Shinawhil production returning series starting soon on TV3, that still gets a huge audience, a good format can seriously takeaway from bad production.

Seriously TV3 and RTÉ Shinawhil do not need to produce foreign formats, there are other better Irish producers out there.

Has anyone tried to series link this yet? I keep getting an unavailable error. I know I can just manually programme it, but its so much easier the other way.

    No to Joe!

Good production values, to be fair. Not the usual slapped-together production from RTE.
Compared to UK/AU/USA/NZ, its closer to the UK show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,195 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Joe's "No" was predictable.. the whole "show one yes, one no" initially out of the gate to show people what to expect.

I bloody love steamed dumplings too! :(

Not gone on getting the opinions of the family - I have only seen the UK one & they don't do this.

Wow RTE spent the money on this and it shows, very high production values, it lacks the soul the ozzy version had though and as said feels more clinical like the UK version. Might change once we get past selection.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,404 ✭✭✭spiritcrusher

Wasn't gone on the new audition phase on the UK version earlier this year but this one isn't too bad. The judges are a little more involved in it and the focus is on the food rather than the persons family/background.
I wonder does Dylan's eye get more bloodshot depending on how shit the food is :pac:

The Ozzie version was absolute crine and rubbish. Soul?? I don't know what you were watching.

If this show is half as good as the bbc one then we are on a winner.

It is obviously the same production team as the bbc one so this was nothing to do with RTE

    I love the Ozzie one!!

Let's hope this is good. We need something decent to watch!:)

Why do they insist on serving food on a chalkboard?!

Couldn't RTE fork out on some paper plates?

She obviously brought it in. RTE have nothing to do with the production

They brought in the cookers from home too, eh?

    Cheap bastards!

Loved the Aussie one too. I always watched good chef/bad chef which had that judge Gary in it and it was a great show.

This version looks good too so far, RTE might actually turn out something good for once?! :D

Ha ha love that his dish was crap. He loved himself and the sob story was nothing much.

The Aussie one has incredibly likeable judges... these two, not sure yet!

I think it's a shame they got two judges with little or no history / chemistry together.. you need to have judges who can bounce off each other. These two don't.. at all!

The lad with the glasses reminds me of a lecturer I had in UCD.

EDIT: http://www.ucd.ie/law/staff/ Paul Ward, down at the bottom of the first list.
