Might as well start a thread for this as news is starting to come through on where people will be next year.

Just been announced that Hushovd is going to BMC. They now have the last three world champions on their books.

Kash going back to Astana is an interesting one. He's showed no form since returning with Lampre.

Also Di Gregorio's flirtation with Astana didn't last long. Strong Paris-Nice and then he kind of faded away as the season went on. Back with a French team now.

Anybody watching the Eneco tour when Harmon said about the collaboration between Quick Step and Omega Pharma? Quick Step seemed to have taken in queit a few riders, they'll be ones to watch out for if it goes through!

Said on Sky Sports News a few days ago that Cav has made a decision about his team future but with the team folding its obvious;) Geraint will have a new man following him!

Anybody think theres any truth in Gilbert moving to BMC?

Anybody think theres any truth in Gilbert moving to BMC?

the rumour has it that he's still signed up to the parent company of Omega Pharma for the 2012 season.

but could you imagine him in that BMC squad, jesus t**ty f**king christ springs to mind, that would be some immensely talented team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭RidleyRider

They would have a very strong team alright! They have everything but a good sprinter but Taylor Phinney was up there with the big boys in the Eneco tour today so he could make a break through!

In an Irish perspective Matt Brammier could benefit from HTC folding?

And Pippo rumoured to be going the other way and joining Farnese Vini...........at least he'll wear that snazzy jersey with some style and flair :D.... not too sure about it being a good career move, though

    Good link here
    http://www.velochrono.fr/actu/transferts-cyclisme-2011-2012/#.TjaNyuzyS7I.facebook

    Few interesting ones .
Mosers son has signed for Liquigas
and Christopher Knud Jensen who rode for Ireland as a junior (moved to Denmark and rides for them now) signed for Saxo bank.

From reading between the lines Matt Brammier seems to have got sorted with a new team.

    More transfers today:

Mark Renshaw to Rabobank as ROK ON said :)Click

Ben Hermans from Radioshack to Leopard Trek Click

Manuel Belletti from Colnago to Europcar, Jimmy Casper moves to Nico's Ag2r team and apparently Gilbert will join either Quick Step or BMC next year. Click

I doubt Gilbert will join Quickstep, they are merging to save money and he's wanting 3 Million for his contract so the story goes..

Also, on Gilbert joining BMC, there appear to be legal issues involved here. As Omega Pharma Lotto are merging with QS, they claim that Gilbert is there rider - he can only leave if there is no OML. In the hands of the lawyers apparently.

hushovd just cant win can he not gonna be classics leader now

I think Hushovd is in a much better place now. At Garmin he was teamed up with two very similar riders (Haussler and Farrar). Gilbert is a different beast and I think they complement eachother well. Being the only realistic contender on your team in the classics isn't a good thing. Everyone else knows you have only one card to play.

What about Greg Van Avermet and Allesandro Ballan. Surely not too disimilar to Hushovd. (although Van Avermet is one of his regular training partners).

Van Avermet is not the finished article yet. Ballan is closer in style to Gilbert in my book.

I read somewhere that September 1st is the day HTC riders are contractually allowed to name their new teams, so we'll probably hear about the rest of them soon enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,238 ✭✭✭Junior

Yeah, Rupert Guinness seems confident Goss isn't going to Sky, so I would think he's gone to GreenEdge, I would have thought there might have been a bit more happening today, where's Sky Sports News with Deadline day eh ?

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,269 Mod ✭✭✭✭Chips Lovell

GreenEdge seems like a much better move for Goss. He'll be playing second fiddle to Cavendish at Sky. So unless Sky are throwing bags of cash at him....

Just after seeing on Twitter that Michael Albasini from HTC will join GreenEdge next season.

Rumours persist, and looks like a gaggle of Leopard Trek guys have been told to sling their hooks...... http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/more-rumours-around-leopard-trek-radioshack-merger

Jens likely to loose out too, it seems.

"In 2012, RadioShack, with the financial support of Trek and Nissan, should continue its adventures with the Schleck brothers as leaders," wrote L'Equipe journalist Manuel Martinez.

Nygard switching back to PR role with GreenEdge

All very strange stuff (or maybe not - such is commercial life )

Leopard Trek confirms collaboration with Radioshack and Nissan
It confirms that Tour de France podium finishers Andy Schleck plus his brother Frank will remain on board, as will world time trial champion Fabian Cancellara. There will be additions from the current RadioShack team, making it what is essentially a merger. “They will be joined by Tour of California Champion Chris Horner, two-time Tour de France runner-up Andreas Klöden, and National Champions Matthew Busche, Jani Brajkovic, Nelson Oliveira and Robert Wagner.”

No mention of Fuglsang as of yet.. but he might be mentioned later

Haven't seen his name mentioned one way or the other. Hope he gets sorted though.

I think that was a case of a team without a sponsor and a sponsor without a team.

Matt already has a contract, I'd hazard a guess he might be moving to Omega-Quickstep. Deignan had only a year long contract anyways so it's not as if he didn't think he might have to move..

Well I definitely dont see Deignan at the new RadioShack team, never thought it was the right team for him anyway.

Philip has not really had any major results this year even if he did some stellar work for his team leaders. His best result was 23rd in Fleche Wallone I think. I dont think he has ever made it back to his 09 level. With a lack of UCI points he may not be very attractive to many teams which could make life difficult for him to fins a new team. Really hope he does find a new team, I think Garmin with Dan Martin would be the perfect fit for him but if they didnt pick him up last season, how likely is it this year.

i was gonna say that the bmc team is looking strong, but the radioshack roster is flippin phenomenal. looking like we are entering the era of superteams...
