You should probably back them up on a disc or a memory stick.

Picassa will hold lots of photos for you too.

I would be amused if they did...but lets look at their track history of "taking down"...what was it?
    Oh yeah...nothing.

    Again,

    and again.

They really showed Scientology though, with their Guy Fawkes mask protests and their harsh language.

Surely if they were serious they wouldn't announce it 3 months beforehand, they would just do it!

Good. Because I've heard from a reliable source that Facebook are going to start charging to use Facebook. Luckily, I've found a group on Facebook which, if we get 1million members, Facebook will abandon their money-making plans and business model completely and it'll still be free.

Come on, people! Get on Facebook now and join this Facebook group to stop Facebook from charging Facebook users for using Facebook!

All the crap that's going on in the world and some fella wants to put his energy into destroying facebook?

Sad. In both the pathetic and genuinely sad sense of the word.

Why so? See if everyone who was right now wasting their time on Facebook (or boards for that matter) was doing their bit volunteering to make the world a better place then the world would be getting a lot faster.

So destroying facebook is half the work, after that you just have to try and get people to fill the void in their free time with doing good. You might think this is a complete waste of time since before facebook people weren't doing good either. but this is often the case. Whenever you fix an item in real life you only get use back out of an item you previously had working.

So destroying facebook and therefore preventing it from wasting people's time is an honourable goal in itself

    Bring It On

A new video, supposedly from Anonymous, claims that the social networking site will 'be destroyed' on November 5th.

    http://www.pcauthority.com.au/News/266123,is-anonymous-coming-after-facebook.aspx?eid=19&edate=20110808&utm_source=20110808&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=daily_newsletter

One of the most important parts of living in the Free World, (which I know is not very Free), is the idea that people have a choice. To destroy FB is to remove a choice. Just stay away, it's probably easier.

I use facebook to post funny pictures.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭Neodymium

The video looks fake to me. It has low quality 240p video, a bog standard computer generated voice and a static picture in the background. Its nothing most people could do in 10 minutes with a text to speech program and windows movie maker.

In all fairness, I don't think destroying facebook is going to increase the amount of volunteering that people do- there'll just be something else to take it's place.

But how will I tell everyone that this week, and at least 3 weeks every month is cancer awareness month, and that 93% of people won't repost?

Seriously though, Anonymous is supposedly releasing their own social network, Anonplus - wonder if they're just building up hype about that instead?

HAsn't he ever watched a Bond movie? You don't go telling everyone about your diabolical scheme, certainly not 3 months before you plan on carrying it out. What a moron.

And they'll probably inexplicably wait for about 2 minutes before hitting 'Enter' while talking about how their diabolical scheme is about to come to fruition.

Just think, if someone destroyed boards, then Ireland could become a utopia. It's a beautiful thought.

    Are those guys retarded?
Why tell everyone you're plan? Oh wait!! To seek attention.
Now facebook's security team can just make sure that the system is even harder to hack.

Getting rid of Fb will change nothing.

Most people just don't give that much of a ****e about changing the world or anything like that.

If it wasn't Fb it would be something else.

    Resistance is futile.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,449 ✭✭✭SuperInfinity

Anyone that actually believes this even as a possibility is extremely ignorant about the internet.

They could not even ddos facebook for a few minutes, facebook is designed to handle millions of requests per second/per minute anyway. Doing it to something like a government website that has almost no traffic is totally different.
