Im aware some similar threads have popped up in the last week or 2 however i think my question is slightly different

Is it possible to increase strength whilst losing fat, now im not talking about bulking, I mean can you keep the same lean mass, while losing fat and increase your strength? I also appreciate that with increased strength comes a certain increase in mass!!

If you're a newbie to weight training, it's definately possible. A little more difficult than if you were eating a calories surplus but definately possible.

Just keep the diet clean. Read the http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055157091 stickies and get plenty of protein.

At any point in your training career it is absolutely possible. Strength is primarily a neural adaptation. Sure, if you increase muscle your potential is higher, but you don't HAVE to to get stronger.

Look at powerlifters and weightlifters, they compete in weight classes and get stronger without having to move up.

cheers for the info, i just really want to strip some fat but get my lifts up without the whole bulking phase. I'm happy at 14.5st, dont want to get any heavier, but obviously want to get stronger!!!
