That stupid "felt" word should surely be banned in a thread about an RS4.

Full marks to Unkel who seems to be the only one who copped on what title was actually about. Why would any come on to slag off an RS4 or even mention "TDI" ?

I'm 99% sure this car was parked beside mine at the ALMC show a few years back, looked clean enough in the flesh back then,i've heard from a few sources it might have had a hard life (nothing wrong with a high performance car having a hard life though if it was looked after by a mechanically sympathetic owner)

Yep, amazing car without doubt. But all them rs4 tdis have wrecked real RS4s, anyone who sees it and knows their stuff about Audi will think "prob not even a real RS4", and most common people who don't know much about cars will just think oh its an A4, thats nice. I'd far rather spend the 35k on something much more unique and interesting, without the image of muppet in a tdi pretending to be an rs4 ha!

What??????? anyone who knows their stuffs about cars and sees a real RS4 and thinks its fake hasn't a clue about cars - there is no mistaking a real RS4 for anything other than the real thing in the flesh.

Plus the "look its a family car thats a little nicer" is one of the original philosophies behind the styling of Audi S/RS cars and BMW M cars.

The image of a muppet in a TDI pretending to be an RS4 evapourates as soon as you turn the key

give ditch a small "d" to match better. Do that and I reckon you could sell that sticker :)

I'd stick a tdi badge on the back of her for the crack. I got a spin in a real rs4 a few weeks back and its one beautiful car. Unfortunately it gets a bit impractical to own one when you drive 500 miles a week. I'd have a nicely done felter but I'd leave it badges as a tdi and add the rs4 to the collection of badges on the toolbox.

Actually, the very reason that I would buy an RS4 is exactly because it looks very ordinary and therefore would be less likely to attract the wrong sort of attention. I'd debadge it for sure, that way 90% of people who saw it wouldn't have a clue what it's capable of. :)

Sad as it maybe, I dont get this "negative" attention thing and like cars to look like what they are. Having an RS4 badge on it would do nothing at all to garner attention in reality as its so common.
Anyone that knows Audi's (be they enthusiast or thief) will generally spot the flared arches anyhow and no amount badging it as a TDI will hide that.. or the exhausts.

Rebadging performance cars kinda makes you look like a street racer IMO. The kind that posts "kill" stories online.

RS4 common? Not that common really, it's not like we see hundreds every day. Now a Punto is a common car, not an RS4 ;)

To be fair, it's personal opinion. I don't mind people who know their cars knowing what it is but I'm not a showy 'look at me' type of attention-whore so debadging it would simply make it less obvious to the general observer that it's a 'fast car'.

I never said anything about rebadging it  That would most likely be illegal. I said debadge, as in remove the RS4 badge. Not once did I mention rebadge. Not once did I mention putting TDI on it. Read my post again, slowly if you like :)

In fact I'm so fussy about badges that I can't stand the fact that Audi still badge their CR diesels as TDI, I believe their should be a 'C' in their somewhere to indicate the new engines. :)

i think what matt ment was the rs4 badge is common and not actually rs4 itself.

how do you think it would be illegal to rebadge a car?? unless you tried telling your insurance and/or for motor tax reasons of course.. i cant see how sticking a tdi badge on an rs4 or visa versa would be illigal... it might be stupid in some peoples opinions but not illigal

The thing about the higher spec cars is that they grab attention. The most common way of identifiying a top end performance car that is based on a regular model at a glance, is the badge.

Now what if you want the car soely because of its performance properties?

The extra attention recieved from owning a high spec car may be welcome or unwelcome depending on the personality of the owner. If this attention is unwanted, a lot of this attention can be reduced by removal of the badge.

The performance of the car is not affected, its really a no brainer if you want all the performance and dont care far the label/status symbol effect (both with petrolheads who know about the internal spec, and non petrol heads who just know about the price)

If I could afford one (and wanted one) ,you better believe I'd be keeping the badge :D

If you get one, I'll give you mine and you can have an RSRS!:cool::cool:

Never understood this, If I go out a spend money on something like an RS4, M3 etc I sure as hell want people to know what it is and what its capable of.

    We're all different :)

I'd like a super powerful car that looks like an ordinary saloon
You'd like a super powerful car that let's everyone know what it is
Others like to dress up their puntos/206s etc., with stupid exhausts, massive spoilers and blaring speakers and subwoofers to make it look like it'll rip the tarmac off the road because it's so fast. Vrooom, vroom :pac:

Each to their own imo. Except the last group of muppets, I really don't like them :D

That is an additional reason you have for wanting that type of car, its a physcolgical factor which is more related to to your individual social wants than your want to own a machine due to its mechanical properties. The badge is in effect a symbol which identifies and assosiates this emotion. If you dont have this desire for other people to know, the badge just draws attention from everybody who sees it and knows a little (about price, performance or just "oh look thats different"), and some people just dont like this.

There is nothing wrong with being loud and proud about your car esp if its worth it, but I personally prefer a bit more subtlty
