    http://www.nbc.com/grimm/about/
Remember the fairy tales your parents used to tell you before bedtime? Well, those weren't stories, they were warnings.
Detective Nick Burkhardt thought he was ready for the grim reality of working homicide in Portland, Oregon. That is, until he started to see things... things he couldn't quite explain. Like a gorgeous woman suddenly transforming into a hideous hag, or an average Joe turning into a vicious troll. Then, after a panicked visit from his only living relative, Nick discovers the truth about his visions: he's not like everyone else, he's a descendant of an elite group of hunters known as "Grimms" who are charged with stopping the proliferation of supernatural creatures in the world. And so begins his new life journey - albeit a reluctant one at first - as he solves crimes with his partner who knows something about Nick has radically changed but can't quite put his finger on it. Along the way, Nick finds himself unexpectedly getting help on some of the more difficult cases from Monroe, a guy who seems normal at first but is soon revealed to be what you might call a "big bad wolf." Literally!
While the Brothers Grimm wrote fairy tales that children have adored for generations, imagine if the villains were real, and Nick was the only one who could stop them.
From executive producers David Greenwalt (Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jim Kouf (Angel, National Treasure) comes a new world of police work where all cases have a storybook connection... but not always happily ever after.

Grimm premieres 21st of Oct Friday's on NBC

Sounds like NBC's version of CW's Supernatural

Casting news: Jaime Ray Newman (Veronica Mars, Eureka, Eastwick, Drop Dead Diva...) is up to play in the next new NBC’s television show “Grimm“.

She will appear in one episode as a badass werewolf. She shot her scenes in Portland last week.

More bad news, which extends to Chuck.....both shows are being pushed back to October 28th: http://www.spoilertv.com/2011/09/chuck-grimm-bumped-to-october-28th.html

NBC has put the pilot online for free, through Twitter and other places...so you can expect rips pretty soon. If you do review please spoiler tag.

^^ ... and this has just happened. Spoiler tags until the end of the month, folks.

That's an interesting move, for NBC to release the pilot episode themselves. It's also pretty smart, as it gets people's attention quickly and stops any screeners being leaked. Hopefully other shows/networks will follow this.

Going by the trailer, I'm not even going to bother watching it, but I'd be interested to hear what others think of it...

Watched the first episode and its was pretty ok. The premise is hokey as hell but the acting and pacing was spot on the money for this type of show. Best way to describe it is a grown up less goofy Buffy.

Unlike most of the newer sci-fi shows this year it left me wanting more.

I quite liked it.The trailer gives away nearly everything though

It was decent enough.. I'll watch a few more.

Yeah I enjoyed it. Sure there was some dodgy acting and its all a bit silly but it certainly kept my attention.

My Mrs loved it, but it is right up her street with the subject matter. Will stick with it for the time being.

BIG ratings for Grimm....2.1 adult demo.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Not a bad second ep. - i'll give props they maintained a serialised element and many plot points continued right off from the pilot. This week was a take/spin on Golilocks and the three bears. But they are keeping an overall arc going. My issue is the acting is pretty crap and the lead is not suited to the role...bit too Brandon Routh for my taste.

Can be a bit cheesy at times, with the Bluebaden dude...it dropped to a 1.8 this week but still solid for a Friday.

Finally got around to watching the first one last night. I really liked it, maybe more than Once Upon a Time actually (given their similar themes). OUAT has a more Wonderfalls/Pushing Daisies vibe, while this is squarely in the Supernatural camp. Looking forward to watching more of it.
The lead is not suited to the role...bit too Brandon Routh for my taste.

What does that mean exactly? You'd prefer a ginger fat guy instead?

I thought he was pretty good actually.

Thought the second episode was pretty dire to be honest!

I've commented on everything of merit.. (i.e very little).

Plenty of great new British drama (The Fades, Fresh Meat etc), but US dramas have been bloody terrible this year - more good new comedies than most years though.

Episode 3 wasn't bad. Will keep watching anyway!

Hmmm I'm still in two minds about this show. The Lead is pretty good and is selling it well but all in all its a little tame. It should be like a "boo" episode of supernatural! Scary, funny pseudo-informative. But instead its more like "Are you afraid of the dark" Made for kids.
Loved AYAOTD when I was a kid but it would have no impact on me now!

Fell to a 1.5 this week, this looks like a trend.........

Still watching here, Richard. Loved the pilot of Grimm (it was a nice setup), but episode 2 and 3 weren't great. I want more background info on the Grimms, the main bad guy etc. (rather than drag it out in tiny crumbs over the whole season). I also think Silas Weir Mitchell is the best thing about it. Glad to see Eddy is a recurring character.

Alas, I think (based on the ratings drop) this show is probably doomed.

Woo!...loves me some Amy Acker!! http://www.tvline.com/2011/11/grimm-amy-acker-nbc/
Also NBC has ordered additional scripts [not episodes but it's usually seen as a positive sign]: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/grimm-nbc-scripts-262467

^ Deadline is reporting it's only 2 additional scripts though.

NBC is giving a full-season pickup to Friday night supernatural drama Grimm.
The show just became the only new NBC hour-long series to get a “back nine” episode order this fall. “We are very pleased to be making a full-season commitment for Grimm,” said NBC president Robert Greenblatt. “This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights. We love where it’s going creatively and we’re excited to deliver more episodes to our audience.”

Just watched episode 5 and I am really enjoying this. Love the twists to the Fairytale stories in it and unlike some previous posters I think the cast is just perfect. Good light hearted fun with a Grimm twist :)

Watching the first episode and not really feeling it. Some of the acting is atrocious and the writing is quite poor. The premise is inventive, hell it's pretty much a TV adaptation of the great Dylan Dog comic and there's some nice visuals but overall it's disappointing. I get the impression that it's one of those shows that's going to slowly tease out the overall arc.

I wasnt expecting this to be all that good but I'm actually quite enjoying it although I would like more of the back story on the Grimms which would have to be damn interesting if that caravan is anything to go by :D

Things must have turned around a bit as TV By The Numbers are predicting 'Grimm' Is Certain To Be Renewed http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/01/24/nbc-grimm-is-certain-to-be-renewed-the-cancellation-bear-will-dine-elsewhere/117409/

Watched a couple episodes and I really wanted to like it, but I couldnt.

Idea was good but it looks like after they had the idea they just threw it together as quickly as possible. I'm not sure if its bad acting, bad writing or a combination but its just really really weak.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,989 ✭✭✭squonk

Agree, it's an OK show. The premises are good but there's just something wrong with it, and I can't put my finger on it. I'm still watching and everything but it should be higher up my watch list!

I rather enjoyed it, a tad like supernatural lite. I enjoyed the comic element provided by the actor Silas Weir Mitchell, and hope he is a regular.

So has anybody else caught this yet? Episode 1 has just aired on Watch, i'm watching it through other sources and am up to S01 E11.

Cracking series, great adaptions of the Fairy Tales, Monroe is by far my fav character.

Yep I'm watching it online too. I like it. few nice variations on stories.

Watching it on Sky (couldn't even tell you the channel though). Have seen the first 3 episodes I think.

Watchable. Chewing gum tv. The idea of a modern take on fairytales and monsters interested me.

Gonna give it a chance anyway.

This is decent but drawn out. Too many filler episodes and how they handle back story is clumsy at times.

Also they would be screwed without the Asian cop, he's the only one that seems to do any work.

Watched the episode about the coins last night, really enjoyed it. Felt the ideas behind it were very powerful.

Can't believe the season is over. Can anyone reccomend something else to watch? Is Supernatural any good? I watch them online usually, looking forward to True Blood in June.

I came in to this thread to try to find the non-spoiler answers for if Grimm is worth watching. Before I go on though, I did see this. Yes, Supernatural is great. It may take a while for you to get in to it. I know a lot of people weren't all that happy with season 1, i.e it being too slow, the directing wasn't as polished as later, et cetera. It is a very good show though, and definitely recommend it.

Thanks. I know there are seven seasons, will keep me busy. I think you should watch Grimm, yes it does have a slow start but it really does get better. Worth watching too!

Watched an episode I sky plussed from Watch last night. I've got them all on my PC but figured since i'm behind I figured i'll just watch this way. It was the episode with the bird and alley cat creatures. But I noticed it seemed to be edited in parts.
Checked out the copy I downloaded and turned out they cut anything that they consider violent. In this case, forcing the tube down her throat and force feeding her and also when she found the guy in the jeep it didn't show his face.
So think i'll stick with the downloaded versions
