I bought the mixed food selection for myself and 2 luxury food selections for friends. Dying to see what they're like.

Anyone ever bought from Chefs Garden Direct before?

And just to check for myself if this is a good deal, I guesstimated Lidl kinda prices for the items and came up with this:

    1lb Handmade Butcher Sausages 2
1lb Handmade Pork and Leek Sausages 2
    227g Irish Black Pudding 1
    1.8kg Whole Irish Chicken 5
    5kg Irish Rooster Potatoes 3
    1kg Irish Carrots 1
    1kg Parsnips 1
    500g Broccoli 1
    5× Red Apples 1
    5× Large Oranges 1
    2× Heinz Beans 1
    2× Punnet Irish Strawberries 5
    2× 250g Cherry Tomatoes 2
1× Twin Pack Baby Gem Lettuce 1
    5× Bananas 1
250g Fresh Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli 1
    2× 125g Creamy Mozzarella 1
    Irish Soda Bread 1
    Large Batch Loaf 1
    4× Handmade Fruit Scones 1
2 Pack of Paradise Slice 1
    2× Seabass Fillets 3
    2× Cod Fillets 3
    250g Cooked Artisan Ham 3
1lb Irish Beef Steak Mince 3
    6 Free Range Eggs 1

    Total: €47

This deal €32 and remember, if you use fatcheese.ie, you get another 6%, so nearly €2 off :)

Ordered the Luxury one myself - hope its as good as it sounds....as ordered the mixed one for the mother and another luxury for the aunt.

Wont be ordering for a while, so if anyone has any feedback please let us know.

Great idea - if they are any good will be ordering again

Had ordered the luxury one also. Little worried as i noticed around 2.5k deals had been sold last time i checked. Voucher activates on Saturday, may be best to give them a few weeks before trying maybe?

Its valid till November anyway, so will give them a few weeks myself.

Strawberries are part of the basic deal so I reckon I'll order next week, leave it till November and you'll be getting foreign ones.
I've ordered from them before and the food is of great quality. My only concern is with 3618!!! deals sold will they be able to keep up.

Folks , can I just mention something here.

Only buy this if your going to use it. There's an awful lot of fresh products there and the Best Before on Fresh stuff is limited so it might look like a good deal, but it won't be so good if it's going in the bin.

People stock up on fresh products not realising the dates, so you might only use half that stuff which could be cheaper if you just bought it fresh.

Just my two cents, the deal is good I must say!

Ordered and just selected cash on delivery as the payment option, so no need to be charged and then removed

Anybody have an update on this? Quality of food etc

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,126 ✭✭✭Gileadi

I requested a delivery at some stage this week. I finally got an email reply off them today telling me that my delivery will not be until next week at the very earliest. Very annoyed that they sent an order confirmation that mentioned nothing about this.

Any good will they would have built up from new customers by offering this discount will easily be countered by their inability to manage the influx of orders. They simply should have capped the amount of deals they sold instead.

I'm expecting mine this Thursday, will update once it arrives :)

There are lots of stories out there of businesses making bad mistakes with Groupon campaigns. Hope this one end OK.

When you order can you choose a time for delivery, or do they tell you what time it will be?

I think normally you could choose your time, but with 3,000 people suddenly all trying to order at once people will be lucky to even get it on the right day

Yep my BF ordered one and they said it'd be there around 1pm, finally showed up at 6 when he had gone out. They said they'd come back the next day, haven't asked him yet if they actually did or not.
